UPDATE for MEMBERS 13th June 2019 Notification from SIPTU Trade Union of Industrial action in the Health Service Dear Colleagues The INMO have been advised by SIPTU Trade Union that they have served notice on the Health Service Executive of Industrial Action for their support grades and grade of Chef. The industrial action has been notified to the HSE in 38 locations as follows: 1. Cork University Hospital 2. Cork University Maternity Hospital 3. Kerry University Hospital 4. Mallow General Hospital 5. South Infirmary Hospital Cork 6. South Tipperary General Hospital 7. Wexford General Hospital 8. St Luke’s Hospital Carlow /Kilkenny 9. Mercy Hospital Cork 10. Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown 11. National Rehabilitation Hospital 12. Beaumont Hospital 13. St Ita’s portrane 14. Mater Hospital 15. St James Hospital 16. St Vincent’s University Hospital 17. Tallaght Hospital 18. Our Lady’s Hospital Navan 19. Louth County Hospital 20. Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda 21. Our Lady’s children’s Hospital Crumlin 22. Rotunda Hospital 23. UL Orthopaedic Hospital Croom SIPTU Trade Union has requested that the normal Trade Union practice of workers not in dispute continuing to work as normal but not undertaking any duties normally assigned to the striking worker. Therefore, we request that all members observe this principle. If instructed to take on duties normally assigned to the grades in dispute, advise that you have been instructed by your union in accordance with normal Trade Union practice not be undertake those duties. The INMO official with responsibilities for the particular areas will also notify the nurse / midwifery managers and the hospital and HSE management that they are not to ask our members to undertake these duties as this will cause an unnecessary conflict in the workplace as normal Trade Union principles will be expected to apply as they would in any dispute. The INMO has also written to the Director of HR at the HSE requesting the employers contingency plan in respect of the grades in dispute and advising our members will not be taking on the duties of the striking worker.
