A Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting was held to A Luau Themed Business After Hours with live welcome Lakeside EMS to their new location on music and great refreshments was hosted by South Locust in Centralia! Centralia Estates / Centralia Manor.

We recognized the name change and branding ConAgra plant manager Steve Bray talked about change for Bayer Crop Science with a Ribbon the amazing quantities of cake mixes produced in Cutting. We appreciate all they do for our Centralia and gave brownies and cake mixes to community! everyone at the luncheon!

We would like you to meet our new office assistant, Amanda Barbee. Please welcome her if you see her in the office or get a call from her.

Amanda was born in Centralia and grew up in Ashley, Richview, and Central City. She and her husband, Chuck, have two beautiful children. You may know Amanda from her previous work experience at Shoe Sensation, Maurice’s or Goody’s.

We are happy to have Amanda as part of our team. She will be working hard on Balloon Fest for the next few weeks and then the next big project is moving to our new location on Broadway!

Balloon Fest Planning - New Activities This Year!

Balloon Fest is right around the corner! We are confirming our sponsors, we are watching our checklist and timelines, and we are planning some new and exciting activities!

The first thing you may notice is the change in races on Saturday and Sunday morning. Both races will take off from the park, so all of the balloons will be in the park at 6:30am. With this mass ascension of hot air balloons, we will have Yoga in the Park at 7:00am both mornings. Karis Baltzell and Whitney Owens will be instructing Yoga for all experience levels. Don’t worry if you have never done yoga before, this is a great way to enjoy the cool, calm atmosphere in the morning. Bring comfortable clothes and a towel/yoga mat.

On Sunday, August 18, we are going to have PBS character SuperWhy and a literacy van! This will be from 12:00pm to 4:00pm near the children’s activity area. This is brought to you by WSIU PBS/NPR and The Insurance Alliance.

Also on Sunday, there will be Remote Controlled Boats on Catfish Pond for kids of all ages! This is a free activity for families to make memories. This is from 12:00pm to 2:00pm and brought to you by Mt. Vernon Yacht Club and Superior Window.

The Children’s Activity Area is from 10:00am to 4:00pm Saturday and 12:00pm to 4:00pm Sunday. The Cardboard Boat Races are still on Sunday. We are working with committees and sponsors to add activities!

The Car Show on Sunday is open for Car Clubs. Traditionally, the Corvette Club has participated, but we would like to see several clubs in the park! Please contact Patty Graham for more information: 618-267-7565.
