Declarations of Interest In terms of Standing Order 16, Councillor McNamara, as a volunteer on the Ardrossan Music Experience, declared an interest in Agenda Item 5 (Community Development Grants Scheme. 2. Minutes The accuracy of the Minutes of the meeting of the Committee held on 27 February 2014 was confirmed and the Minutes signed in accordance with Paragraph 7 (1) of Schedule 7 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, with the following amendment:- 11. Ardrossan: Car parking at the Junction of Princes Street with Glasgow Street The Committee discussed car parking issues at the junction of Princes Street and Glasgow Street, Ardrossan and whether additional "Traffic Regulation Orders need to be" identified........ The Committee was provided with an update in relation to the following items:- Page 1 5 5. Traffic Regulation Order for School Keep Clear Zig Zag Markings Information had been provided to Members on whether parking restrictions, such as zig zag markings, applied to taxi drivers with disabled permits. All yellow zig zag markings outside schools require to be set out to certain dimensions. An exercise to check the markings comply with these dimensions will be undertaken prior to the implementation of the zig zag Traffic Regulation Order. 7. Community Benefit Fund The Corporate Director (Development and Environment) will be preparing a report for Cabinet on a range of issues in respect of the Community Benefit Fund. 3. Community Planning Partnership Partners 3.1 North Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership (CPP) Board: 6 March 2014 Submitted report by the Chief Executive on the Minutes of the meeting of the Community Planning Partnership (CPP) Board held on 6 March 2014. Noted. 3.2 Police Scotland Inspector Skimming provided information on the following:- Crimes of Note; Notable Arrests; Directed Patrol Plan Initiatives that will include patrols to those areas that have been highlighted by local Members; Public Events attended; and Local Police Plan Priorities. Noted. 3.3 Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Submitted report by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) on activity within the Committee's area in the period 1 February to 14 April 2014. Members asked questions and were provided with information in relation to a wide range of fire safety equipment in place at Sandylands Caravan Park and fire risk assessment audits that are undertaken by SFRS at the Park. Noted. Page 2 6 4. Car Parking at Junction of Princes Street/Glasgow Street, Ardrossan Submitted report by Corporate Director (Development and Environment) on the existing and future provision of car parking at the junction of Princes Street and Glasgow Street, Ardrossan. At its meeting of 27 February 2014, the Ardrossan and Arran, Saltcoats and Stevenston Area Committee discussed car parking issues at the junction of Princes Street and Glasgow Street, Ardrossan and sought a report on the existing and future parking provision in and around the junction. Members asked questions and were provided with information in relation to:- the North Ayrshire Parking Strategy that will review the current on-street parking restrictions and identify and remove unnecessary parking restrictions in each town in North Ayrshire; and a Parking Action Plan that will identify when each town will be reviewed and a request that Ardrossan be reviewed at the earliest opportunity. The Committee agreed (a) that the Corporate Director (Development and Environment) consider an early review of the current on-street parking restrictions in Ardrossan; and (b) to otherwise note the report. 5. Community Development Grants Scheme and Local Youth Action Fund: Applications for Financial Assistance Submitted report by the Corporate Director (Education and Skills) on applications received in respect of the Community Development Grants Scheme and the Local Youth Action Fund. At its meeting on 27 February 2014, the Committee was advised that Ham and Egg Productions had not complied with the condition that the camera was returned to the care of the Ardeer Community Association at the end of the project. The Committee agreed that the Corporate Director (Education and Skills) (i) make further efforts to secure the return of the camera purchased by Ham and Egg Productions to the Ardeer Community Association; and (ii) provide an update to the next meeting. The Committee was advised that the camera has been returned to Ardeer Community Association and appropriate insurance has been arranged. The Committee agreed to make the following awards:- Community Development Grants Scheme Brodick Improvements Committee £358.22 Retirement Yoga Group Nil Page 3 7 Local Youth Action Fund Chernobyl Children's Lifeline "Ayrshire Continue for further Link" information Shibumi Karate Nil The Committee was advised of a late application to the Community Development Grants Scheme by Ardrossan Music Experience. As a result of a declaration of interest by Council McNamara, as detailed in Item 1, the Committee was inquorate for this item of business. The Committee was advised that the application would require to be considered at a Special Meeting of the Area Committee to be held on 29 April 2014. 6. Grants to Elderly Groups Submitted report by the Corporate Director (Education and Skills) on the level of funding available for disbursement in the Committee's area in 2014/15 and applications received. Appendix 1 to the report provided details of the allocation of elderly grant funding across the Committee's area as follows:- Arran £3,236 Stevenston £3,805 Ardrossan £4,262 Saltcoats £4,891 Noted. 7.     A BRIEF HISTORY OF ST MOLIOS CHURCH SHISKINE This booklet is a brief history of church life in and round Shiskine, and in particular of St Molios Church. The Red Church was opened for worship on 21st July 1889. This event testified to the faith and commitment of generations of Christian people. The expansion has continued. In 1962 a Guild Room and kitchen were added to the church. In 1964 the kitchen and Vestry were let out to the Board of health twice a week for physiotherapy. Thereafter the toilets were altered to ensure access, for disabled people and improvements to the kitchen and hall were carried out. The profits generated by this booklet will benefit the fund set up to enable improvements to the Church & Hall. The new manse was built in 1978. Services on Sunday are well attended both by our members and visitors who flock to the island every year. The church of Scotland has adjusted ministry on the island so that since 2005 our parish has been linked not only to Lochranza and Pirnmill, but also to Brodick & Corrie. The arrangement is made possible by the appointment of a minister and a part-time Parish Assistant resident in Shiskine manse. The Minister and Reader conduct three services each on a Sunday, ensuring the tradition of morning worship can continue. Worship is always at 12:00 noon at St. Molios. Visitors to other churche in the linkage need to consult "The Arran Banner" or the church notice board for times of services which vary. The Sunday Club meets at the time of morning worship weekly during term-time and is open to children from four to eleven.

    Water Safety Policy in Scotland —A Guide 2 Introduction Scotland is surrounded by coastal water – the North Sea, the Irish Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. In addition, there are also numerous bodies of inland water including rivers, burns and about 25,000 lochs. Being safe around water should therefore be a key priority. However, the management of water safety is a major concern for Scotland. Recent research has found a mixed picture of water safety in Scotland with little uniformity or consistency across the country.1 In response to this research, it was suggested that a framework for a water safety policy be made available to local authorities. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) has therefore created this document to assist in the management of water safety. In order to support this document, RoSPA consulted with a number of UK local authorities and organisations to discuss policy and water safety management. Each council was asked questions around their own area’s priorities, objectives and policies. Any policy specific to water safety was then examined and analysed in order to help create a framework based on current practice. It is anticipated that this framework can be localised to each local authority in Scotland which will help provide a strategic and consistent national approach which takes account of geographical areas and issues.     Corranbuie & Skipness Land Management Plan Summary Corranbuie & Skipness LMP was approved on 30-1-12017 and runs for 10 years. Vision Corranbuie and Skipness are two adjoining forests, see map 1 Location, lying immediately to the south of the village of Tarbert on Loch Fyne, linked by open hill land rising to over 350m at the highest point. Loch Fyne forms the majority of the eastern boundary while the western area is adjacent to elevated heath and private forestry plantations. Tarbert and Skipness are the closest settlements and the nearest transport link is the A83T which links Tarbert with Campbeltown. Ferry routes run close by from Tarbert to Portavadie, Claonaig to Arran and Kennacraig to Islay. Tarbert is an important tourist hub, with access provision into the forest from the village. The Kintyre Way runs through the forest. The eastern coastal strip is noted for its designated Atlantic oakwoods. The total combined management area is 2996.8ha. The primary objectives for the plan area are • Economic and sustainable timber production, including windblow clearance. • PAWS restoration. • Development of habitat networks. • Landscape improvement. • Enhancement and protection of Tarbert to Skipness Coast SSSI and Tarbert Woods SAC. • Construction of new forest roads. • Enhancement of the Kintyre Way. • Protection and enhancement water features and water supplies. • Delivery of Deep Peat policy outcomes • Contribution to renewables targets through hydro-scheme construction. • Protection and enhancement of cultural heritage assets. • To

Comments Claonaig As the 1415 train from Glasgow Central is not due at Ardrossan Harbour until 1509, one would presume that it is not a booked connection into the 1515 sailing. 45 foot passengers alighted from the train for the ferry. CalMac staff at Ardrossan assured me that it is a connection despite the 'be on board 10 minutes before departure' rule. , 'Caledonian Isles' 1350 ? Brodick Ardrossan 1445 40L 125 foot passengers alighted. Unable to say if the 1528 train was held CalMac staff telephoned Brodick office to advise them of passengers for the 1620 bus to Lochranza. Also that I was intending to get the 1715 ferry from Lochranza to Claonaig thence the 1749 bus to Tarbert.
