Keith grows three different white grapes at Noah's Ark: Bacchus, Schonburger and Seyval Blanc. While they are sweet grapes, they are not renowned for being good 'eaters', they're better for making wine. "We wanted three grapes to blend together to make a single wine, but when there is excess we turn it out as a wine made by a single grape." Introduction The aim of this guide is to list human and material resources likely to be of assistance to householders in an emergency in the Parish of Alderbury. Emergencies can be totally unforeseen situations. Many, however, can be anticipated and householders can use this guide to help with pre-planning for possible events. These could include – extreme weather; communications interruption; industrial hazards; transport issues; fire risks, etc. In the event of an emergency affecting a large portion of the community, the Parish Chair (Elaine Hartford), and Parish Councillors Barry Sloan and Michael Considine, assisted by the Parish Clerk, will assume the role of coordinators.     BBC Local Radio Service Licence. Issued May 2013 BBC Local Radio This service licence describes the most important characteristics of BBC Local Radio, including how it contributes to the BBC’s public purposes. Service Licences are the core of the BBC’s governance system. They aim to provide certainty for audiences and stakeholders about what each BBC service should provide. The Trust uses service licences as the basis for its performance assessment and as the basis for its consideration of any proposals for change to the UK public services from the BBC Executive. A service may not change in a way that breaches its service licence without Trust approval. The Trust presumes that any proposed change to a stated Key Characteristic of a licence will require it to undertake a Public Value Test. Should it decide not to carry out a Public Value Test before approving any such change, then it must publish its reasons in full. This Service Licence covers all BBC Local Radio stations in England. Each of the 39 stations is described in Annex II of this licence Part I: Key characteristics of the service 1. Remit The remit of BBC Local Radio is to provide a primarily speech-based service of news, information and debate to local communities across England. Speech output should be complemented by music. The target audience should be listeners aged 50 and over, who are not well-served elsewhere, although the service may appeal to all those interested in local issues. There should be a strong emphasis on interactivity and audience involvement.

    NEWSLETTER THIRTY THREE – APRIL 2021 Melksham Café opens After months of preparation the café at the Melksham Hub opened on the 29 th March. Open six days a week the facility will provide hot and cold drinks, cooked snacks and desserts to all comers. On day one there was a steady stream of rail users and workers at local businesses near the station trying out the menu. Initially the café is open for takeaway only but as restrictions are lifted there will be outside seating. Both cash and cards are accepted although contactless is preferred at present. The opening hours will be constantly reviewed based on customer numbers and the level of rail passengers. March fare rises announced The annual fares rise took effect from 1 st March. The average increase nationwide is 2.6%, most rises on the TransWilts route are fractionally below that. Some sample fares are shown below. New prices in red.     Householders’ guide for emergencies November 2010 1 Coping with emergencies 999 When you dial 999 the first person to answer will be an operator who will ask which service you require and your telephone number because, if the line is cut, or you are unable to continue the call, the operator can trace where you are and send the emergency services to your assistance. Only use the 999 number for a genuine emergency. If you need more than one emergency service, ask for the most important one first and then make sure you tell the operator which other service(s) is required. For instance, if the emergency is a fire then request Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service but bear in mind you may also need Police and Ambulance. The operator may well refer the information to the other services anyway, but it is better safe than sorry. November 2010 2 Dealing with an emergency The one thing you can be sure of in an emergency situation is that it will probably be the last thing you expected. Floods, severe weather, accidents or incidents involving dangerous chemicals usually strike without warning. This leaflet aims to explain some simple steps everyone can take to be ready when an emergency strikes. It explains easy safety measures, how to reduce damage to property and what to do if you have to move out of your home until danger has passed.
