Pouille, No. 26 seed Jack Sock along with unseeded Marcos Baghdatis and Kyle Edmund are appearing in the 4th Round in Flushing Meadows for the first time. This is the third straight year three or more Frenchmen are in the 4th Round at the US Open. Djokovic has only spent 3 hours, 8 minutes on court to reach the 4th Round in Flushing Meadows for the 10th consecutive year. The 29-year-old Serb, who takes on 21-year-old Edmund, has never lost in this round (9-0) in the US Open and is 36-2 lifetime in the 4R in Grand Slam tournaments, winning 35 in a row in this round since losing at the 2007 Australian Open (l. to Federer). Edmund is making his 4R Grand Slam debut in his first US Open main draw. He and countryman Andy Murray are the first British men to reach a Grand Slam 4R since Tim Henman (SF) and Greg Rusedski (4R) at 2002 Wimbledon. The last time it happened at this tournament was in Forest Hills in 1966 with Mark Cox (QF) and Graham Stilwell (4R). Nadal has cruised his way into the 4th Round, dropping only 20 games, the fewest he’s lost in 8 appearances en route to this round in Flushing Meadows. The 30-year-old Spaniard, who faces Pouille, is trying to reach his first Grand Slam quarter-final since last year’s Roland Garros (l. to Djokovic). He’s also attempting to advance to his first US Open QF since winning the title three years ago. With a victory, Nadal will pass Pete Sampras for 7th place on the all-time Grand Slam match wins list with 204. Pouille has won his last two matches in five sets and the 22- year-old Frenchman is trying to reach his second straight Grand Slam quarter-final (Wimbledon). Tsonga is trying to reach the US Open quarter-finals for the second straight year and third time in his career (2011). The 31-year-old Frenchman won the previous meeting against Sock in a third set tie-break at ATP Masters 1000 Madrid in May 2015. Sock is appearing in his first 4R at the US Open and second in a Grand Slam (2015 Roland Garros). Sock is looking to become the first American man to reach the quarter-finals in Flushing Meadows since John Isner and Andy Roddick in 2011. Monfils, who owns a 2-1 record against Baghdatis, has not dropped a set (9-0) en route to the 4R for the fifth time (2-2) in Flushing Meadows. Monfils reached the quarter-finals two years ago and in 2010. This summer, the 30- year-old Frenchman has compiled a 17-2 match record, winning the biggest ATP World Tour title of his career at the 500 level tournament in Washington (d. Karlovoic). He also reached the semi-finals at ATP Masters 1000 Toronto and the quarter-finals at the Rio Olympics. Baghdatis is making his first 4R showing in a Grand Slam since the 2009 Australian Open. His last major QF came at 2007 Wimbledon.
