FTC IDOL 2010 Cash Awards! First Place $200.00 Second Place $100.00 Rules & Regulations 1. FTC Idol is open to anyone registered for the Festival. A $5.00 registration fee is required to enter FTC Idol. 2. Talent entries may consist of any of the following: song, monologue, dance, pantomime or stand-up comedy and must come from the world of theatre or musical theatre. In selecting material, please bear in mind family audience appropriateness in regards to language and content. 3. Each contestant is allowed up to four (4) minutes performance time. This competition is designed for solo contestants only. 4. Once registered, contestants are assigned a performance slot on either Thursday or Friday evening at the Lakeland Center. The finalists perform on Saturday evening at the Florida Theatre Conference closing event. 5. Florida Theatre Conference selects the order of performance and the evening of the contestant’s perfor- mance. This is based upon the number and variety of entries. For the sake of fairness, each organiza- tion is allowed up to three entrants. 6. A piano is provided, but the contestant is responsible for the accompanist. A CD player is provided. Only instrumental CDs, please. No lead vocals. 7. Audience members may vote for contestants on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each vote costs $1.00. Popular votes are combined with the judges' scores to determine the contestants’ standing. 8. Decisions by the judging panel are final. 9. Contestants are notified if they are not selected for the competition, solely based on space limitation. First come, first served. If more than three entrants from one organization are received, we accept the first three we open. If not selected, the registration fee is returned to you.

Venice Stage Hosts International Theatre Festival BY LAURIE COLTON, Venice Theatre— For five days in late June, Venice, Florida, was buzzing with the excitement of the 2010 Festival of the American Association of Community Theatre International. This was the first time a Florida theatre had hosted the festival. “Festival in Paradise” was an eclectic gathering of community theatres from around the globe. Attendees came from as near as next door, as far as Japan, and were treated to a wide variety of performance styles from Australia, Brazil, Denmark, Israel, Italy, Po- land, Russia, Singapore, Spain and the United States.
