Rodney Vincent RODNEY VINCENT Rodney Vincent is renowned for being a genuine all round entertainer and his love of performing has taken him from the old time dance band days to live television programs, music halls, cabarets, festivals and major venues throughout Australia. Music, Memories & Madness Rodney’s energetic show “Music Memories and Madness” is just that, a show filled with fun, laughter and song. With Rodney’s unique ability to mix a variety of country music, comedy, story telling and rock n roll you have the recipe for superb crowd-pleasing entertainment. Rodney’s show and standing in the Australian entertainment scene is no accident. It is the result of a long, hard appren- ticeship, which Rodney admits ‘started a while ago’. From his first engagement playing guitar in an old time dance band at his local hall, to New Faces where he got his first big break, Rodney has survived the highs and lows of the industry. After his appearance on the New Faces, Rodney joined the Channel Nine Singers on the “In Melbourne Tonight” show which featured Graham Kennedy, Ugly Dave Grey, Bert Newton and other house hold names. On the demise of the ‘Tonight show’ Rodney teamed with Terry Gill to form Double Tempo, a duo that performed both on television and the cabaret circuit around Australia. After a variety of performances with Terry Gill, Rodney embarked on his solo career. Over the years Rodney has toured with some of the best entertainers from Overseas and Australia, the likes of Col Elliott, Lucky Grills, Geraldine Doyle, Gloria Loring, Freddie & the Dreamers, The Four Kinsmen and Elvis to the Max. But none more so than one of the most unique voices in the history of rock n roll, the late great American legend Gene Pitney. Not only did Rodney support Gene on 5 Australian tours, he co-wrote and recorded 2 songs with him; “Big Surprise” and “Lets not Make the Same Mistake Again” Rodney Vincent – when it absolutely has to be Entertaining ! Wednesday 19 July 2006 MEDIA RELEASE PERTH MINT RELEASES 'MOVING' TRIBUTE TO 50 YEARS OF TELEVISION A unique square coin styled on an early television set, complete with moving images, has been released by The Perth Mint as a tribute to the past 50 years of Australian television. Struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality and issued as Australian legal tender, the 50 Years of Australian Television 1956-2006 coin features the Mint's highly acclaimed 'lenticular' imaging effects to portray six television icons from the past 50 years of broadcasting. The Perth Mint is the only mint in the world to issue legal tender coins displaying 'moving' lenticular images. Two previous lenticular issues, the 35th Anniversary of the First Moon Walk and the 60th Anniversary of the End of World War II 1945-2005, have proved a popular concept among collectors. Announcing the coin at Sydney's Powerhouse Museum, Perth Mint General Manager Veronica Maguire said popular interest in the 50th anniversary of Australian television was reflected in the Powerhouse's successful On The Box exhibition. "Like the classic clips and TV memorabilia at the Powerhouse, The Perth Mint's numismatic tribute recognises the impact of the world's most powerful medium and the outstanding achievements of Australian producers and broadcasters," Ms Maguire said. "We expect collectors to react equally enthusiastically to this new release, which has a strictly limited mintage of just 12,500. With a recommended retail price of $85, the coin is also likely to have broad appeal among a wide range of Australian television fans." Australian television began in Sydney in September 1956 with Station TCN's This is Television.

A Night To Remember With Patti Newton – Australian TV’s golden girl unveils our incredible over 55s community coming to Television City –– One of Australian TV’s most recognised faces, we delighted in having Patti Newton host an incredible evening at Top Paddock Restaurant in Richmond on Wednesday May 8th where a special evening was enjoyed by over 90 guests who delighted in hearing about Patti’s stories of the GVT9 studios on Bendigo Street where famed Australian variety shows were filmed for almost half a century. Fast forward to today, and her passion for the heritage precinct endures and we’re so excited to integrate the site of our new over 55s community with TV’s golden era. Patti took guests on a trip down memory lane, sharing stories of the greats that graced the halls of GTV9, the very special hub of entertainment that was the stomping ground of Graham Kennedy, Bert Newton, Hey Hey It’s Saturday and so many more. GVT9 is steeped in colourful history with mainstream broadcasting starting here in 1956. One year later in 1957 Patti made her debut in The Tarax Show at the age of 12. Kickstarting her career, she continued on and appeared in a host of iconic shows from In Melbourne Tonight, Bandstand and The Graham Kennedy Show, even going on to meet husband Bert at the famed studios. Over the course of the evening, guests enjoyed cocktails and canapes and learnt more about the new apartments and facilities coming to the precinct. Patti mingled with guests and proved entertainment really is in her blood bursting into impromptu song with Lendlease’s Head of Development, Simon Militano, delighting guests with a duet of Elvis Presly’s ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’.
