Swachhta Rankings – 2019 Achieving Full Swachhta Rankings 2019 Achieving Full ODF in Villages Swachhta in Indian Villages Engagement of Higher Education Institutions Department of Higher Education Ministry of Human Resource Development MHRD Government of India Swachhta Rankings 2019 Achieving Full ODF in Villages Higher Education Institutions – Promoting Swachhta The Ministry of Human Resource Development promotes and rewards the cleanliness efforts of educational institutions every year. Swachhta or cleanliness must be a habit in students and it can be developed only in educational institutions. Clean India is the foundation of healthy India. Honourable Prime Minister’s vision for ‘Transforming India’, has been taken very committedly by the Ministry. The transformation of the education sector with the motto of “सबको शिक्षा, अच्छी शिक्षा” (education for all, quality education) is playing dividends. Added to this, the Swachhta mission for cleanliness of campuses and the surroundings is a notable achievement for the Government of India. Submissions by Higher Education Institutions for Swachhta Rankings for the year 2019 yielded a huge response. The Swachhta mission enthusiastically observed by Universities/Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) has given fruitful results both on and off campus. More and more educational institutions are applying for Swachhta Rankings, which shows the growing awareness among people. Maharashtra state has the highest number of HEIs promoting Swachhta with Effective Solid and Liquid Waste Management numbers followed by Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. India needs Swachh Bharat Mission to make India a clean and green nation. Cleanliness is not just about education; it is the morality and sensibility of common man. Every person should take upon himself/herself to contribute for a better India. The HEIs have provided data on village adoption and have given concrete information on village name and achievements. A total number of 3515 residential and 3405 non-residential colleges participated in the entire nation-wide campaign. The adoption of villages for several swachhta drives by the Universities/HEIs brings to the fore many interesting and encouraging results. Solid and liquid waste management systems are in place in almost all the campuses and are adhering to successful waste management techniques. ODF status of villages is on the increase. Solar energy is being harnessed in almost 90% of the HEIs, and rain water harvesting is also being followed. Campus greenery coverage is being given utmost importance. Several neighbouring villages have been adopted by campuses with positive results. The intensive environment-friendly measures taken up by the Universities/HEIs have become the beacon light for more and more institutions to create hygienic campuses. This in turn augurs well for the country as clean education places will lead to cleaner surroundings and a cleaner nation. Swachh Bharat can make a Swasth Bharat. Extract Submissions by the Universities/Higher Education Institutions for Swachhta rankings for the year 2019 were 6920 (Residential 3515, Non-Residential 3405). The following is state-wise statistics of institutions that have been actively promoting Swachhta with Effective Solid and Liquid Waste Management. The undigested food due to vitiated agni results in apakwa-ahara-rasa, that does not get absorbed and transformed is termed as ama, is said to be root cause for diseases. Ama combines with dosha to form amadosha that acquires more shuktatva, further forming amavisha, paving to varied manifestations in diseases. Therefore, analyzing saama and niramavastha is essential for better diagnosis and management. Amlapitta, one among the annavaha-sroto-vikara manifests due to agni-vaishamya. Jihwa pareeksha (tongue examination) plays an important role to assess various changes in jihwa. It reflects the status of annavaha-srotas and ama. Thus, the present study aims at observation of manifestations on jihwa (tongue) by jihwa pareeksha in saama avastha of Amlapitta. Patients of Amlapitta were screened and subjected for jihwa pareeksha.
