skill level DIRECTIONS: 1. Follow Steps 2 through 5 to make the pattern for the skirt. 2. Some skirt patterns may already have a like this skirt. Alternatively, either make a skirt without a waistband yoke or do a little pattern making of your own. Take a basic A-line skirt pattern and trace the front and back onto tracing or tissue paper, including all markings. For each pattern, draw a line 2½” below the top edge. Also determine the length of the skirt and subtract 3” from that length. Draw a line perpendicular to the center front and back at that point. off the excess at the bottom.

Hold the pattern up to body and determine if that is the desired shape. It is better to leave the pattern a little longer in order to adjust and trim the bottom while pinning the ruffle in place. Add 5/8” to the lower edge.

13. Remove the overskirt and the ruffle to the overskirt along the seamline. Trim the seam allowance so it is just a little wider than the seam allowance of the original ruffle seam. Zigzag finish the seam allowance. Right sides up, pin the overskirt in place on the skirt front and baste along top and side edges.
