The ancestors of Boswellia developed at as in medicine. B. ameero is a ground rooted tree with flaking bark, up to 8 m tall. Leaves pinnate, 10–35 cm long. widest in 2/3 of length. Leaflets –2 5 to 4–10 cm, with straight trichomes on both sides. Leaflets often with tuberculate or flat surface and margins turned upward, serrate to crenate. Old leaves turn red. Leaves in rosettes at the top of branches. Flowers in paniculate racemes, 4–17 cm long. Flowers pink.

ُلبان أمعريو )B. ameero( هي أشجار متجذرة أرضياً مع لحاء متقشر ويصل ارتفاعها لثمانية أمتار، أوراقها ريشية يرتاوح طولها ما بني ١٠-٣٥ سم وثلثي الطول عرض،والوريقات ترتاوح ما بني ٢-٥ إىل ٤- سم٦ مع زغب مستقيم عىل الجانبيني، وكثريا ًمن األحيان تكون الوريقات متدرنة أو ذات سطح ٍمستو وجوانبها منحنية لألعىل و منشارية مدببة، كما تتحول األوراق األقدم للون األحمر، وتظهر الوريدات عىل رؤوس األغصان و الزهور وردية يف عذوق عنقودية يرتاوح طولها ما بني ٤-٧ سم.

Tree with sparse crown and smooth black bark. Leaves pinnate, longer than 13 cm and wider than 3 cm, hairy on both sides. Rachis winged, wings on rachis inconspicuous. Some leaves red. Pink flowers in short racemes or panicles. It is probably hybrid or hybridogenic species of parental taxa B. ameero and B. socotrana subsp. socotrana. Only small population from Mugadrihon is known.

الشجرة ذات تاج متناثر ولحاء أسود أملس، أما أوراقها فهي ريشية بطول يزيد عن ١٣ سم وعرض يزيد عن ٣سم مكسوة بالشعر من الجانبني، العنق مجنح واألجنحة غري جلية )واضحة(، بعض أوراقها حمراء وأزهارها وردية عىل عذوق أو عثاكل قصرية، وهي بالغالب نوع مهجن أو هجني أوجيني )hybridogenic( من ُلبان أمعريو )B. ameero( و ُلبان ُسقطرى- تحت النوع ُسقطرانا )B. socotrana subsp. socotrana(، واكتشفت منها مجموعة أو تعداد صغري يف مقدريهون.

A small tree to 5 m with an umbrella-like crown growing on cliffs. The bark is pale grey or greenish and smooth. The leaves are imparipinnate, densely hairy. The leaflets are oblong with pinnate margins. Flowers in racemes or panicles, flowers (petals) greenish. The disc in flower sometimes purple. The trees with red flowers on Bit Gobihir mentioned by Miller et al. (2004) were not found during field survey in 2016.

الشجرة الصغرية ذات تاج يشبه املظلة تنمو عىل الجروف ويصل ارتفاعها إىل خمسة أمتار، أما اللحاء أملس لونه رمادي باهت أو مخضر، أما الوريقات متطاولة ذات حواف ريشية. أما األزهار تكون يف عذوق أو عثكول، وبتالت األزهار مخضرة، أو قرص الزهرة يف بعض األحيان أرجواين. أما األشجار ذات األزهار الحمراء التي ذكرها ميلر )Miller et 2004 ( يف.al بني غوبهر لم يتم العثور عليها خالل املسح التي تم تنفيذه عىل عام ٢٠١٦.

A medium-tall tree qrowing on limestone rocks or boulders. The bark is flaking, pale brown, yellowish. The leaves are imparipinnate, glabrous, glaucous and waxy. The leaflets are often overlapping, oval with serrate margins. The flowers are in panicles, sometimes in racemes. The flowers (petals) are white or pink. The leaves are often infected by parasitic fungi and aphids.

أشجار متوسطة الحجم تنمو عىل الصخور والجالميد الجريية، واللحاء متقشر ولونه بني باهت و مصفر، أما األوراق ريشية فردية )يف رأسها ورقة فردية( جرداء وشمعية وذات زغب مائل للزرقة. أما الوريقات فهي بيضاوية ذات حواف منشارية وغالبا ًما تتداخل فيما بينها. أما األزهار يف عثكول و أحيانا ًعىل عذوق، بتالتها أما بيضاء أو وردية، ويف كثري من األحيان ُتصيبها عدوى فطرية أو أرقة )حشرة املن( طفيلية.

25 48 BOSWELLIA ELONGATA BALF.F.

One of the biggest trees on the island growing up to 8 m, with an umbrella-like crown. The bark is pale brown and yellowish, flaking. The leaves are imparipinnate, rarely also simple. The upper side of leaves is dark green, the lower side white, with wooly hairs. The leaves are variable in shape but always with a white lower side. The flowers in panicles. The colour of the flowers is variable, greenish to red. Quite a variable taxon, which has two or three morphologically different populations on the island. Sometimes also planted in home gardens.

أحدى أكرب األشجار ذات تاج مظيل الشكل عىل الجزيرة وتنمو لتصل إىل ٨ أمتار، أما اللحاء متقشر فهو بني باهت َّومصفر،أما األوراق ريشية فردية،والبسيطة منها ندرة والجانب األعىل من األوراق أخضر قاتم، أما الجانب السفيل أبيض ذا شعر صويف، واألوراق متعددة األشكال لكن دائماً ما تكون بيضاء من الجانب السفيل لها. أما األزهار تكون يف عثكول، وألوانها متغرية من مائلة للخضرة إىل الحمراء. هذا الصنف متغري بشكل تام، فهو يضم من أثنان إىل ثالثة جماعات منها متواجدة عىل الجزيرة ومختلفة ُّالتشكل)مورفولوجيا(، ويف بعض األحيان تزرع يف الحدائق املنزلية.

B. „hesperia“ is insufficiently explored taxon of unknown value. B. „hesperia“ is growing in holes in limestone rock as a dwarf prostrate shrub (or tree). The habitus is similar as B. nana, but differs by dense whitish trichomes on leaves. Leaves simple, crenate – undulate at margins. Flowers are reddish, probably growing individually.

Boswellia nana, is a rock growing species with limited distribution. It is a small prostrate shrub, rarely also small tree. On the places accessible for cattle it survives in a dwarf form between rocks (on Hamadero). Bark grey, smooth, sometimes with white spots. Leaves glabrous, on full sun red, morphologically variable, simple, lobbed, rounded or pinnate, irregular. Flowers red (very rarely yellow), in small panicles.

ّاللبان الصغري )Boswellia) nana هو نوع ينمو عىل الصخور محدودة التوزيع، وهي شجريات صغرية زاحفة )منسطحة( ويف حاالت نادرة تكون شجرة. ومن أسباب بقائها بالرغم من أنها تتواجد يف املناطق التي تصل إليها املاشية يف هامديرو، أنها تنمو يف الفجوات والشقوق الصخرية وحجمها ّاملقزم. أما اللحاء أملس لونه رمادي باهت ويف بعض األحيان مع تبقعات بيضاء. أما األوراق جرداء )مرداء/ملساء( وتكون حمراء يف وضح النهار، لديها ّتش ُكالت منوعة فأما تكون بسيطة، مفصصة، ومستديرة أو ريشية غري منتظمة. أما األزهار حمراء وبالندرة صفراء يف عكاثل صغرية.

Boswellia popoviana is a tree with an umbrella-like crown growing on limestone rocks and boulders. The bark is smooth and pale grey. The leaves are very variable in shape: simple, lobate or imparipinnate, with different margins. The leaves usually have light green venation and a yellow rachis with sparse hair from the upper side and dense woolly white hair from the lower side. The flowers are red, in panicles. ُلبان بوبوفيانا )Boswellia popoviana( عبارة عن أشجار ذات تاج شبيه باملظلة تنمو عىل الصخور الجريية والجالميد، وذات لحاء أملس لونه رمادي باهت. أما األوراق متغرية األشكال بشكل كبري: بسيطة و مفصصة، أو ريشية فردية مع حواف مختلفة، ذات عروق لونها أخضر فاتح وزغب أصفر مع شعر متناثر عىل السطح العلوي لها، وشعر صويف أبيض للسطح السفيل. أما األزهار حمراء يف عكاثل.

Boswellia samhaensis is known only from few boulders from southern part of Samha Island. It is small tree with smooth greyish or yellowish bark. Leaves densely hirsute, imparipinnate 4-11 cm long. Leaflets lanceolate oblong, broadly crenate. Flowers in compact racemes or shortly branched panicles, 3-8 cm long.

اكتشف ُلبان سمحة )Boswellia samhaensis( عىل قلة من الجالميد يف الجزء الجنوبي من جزيرة سمحة، وهي شجرة صغرية مع لحاء أملس رمادي مصفر، واألوراق ريشية فردية ومهلبة )مغطاة بالشعر( بطول ٤-١١ سم. أما الوريقات رمحية )مستدقة( مطاولة الشكل، ومسننة. أما األزهار يف عذوق مكدسة أو فروع عكاثل قصرية يرتاوح طولها ما بني ٣-٨ سم.

There are two subspecies of B. socotrana, one with green leaves (B. socotrana subsp. socotrana) and one with grey waxy leaves (B. socotrana subsp. aspleniifolia). B. socotrana is a ground rooting tree, the bark is dark grey, smooth or flaking on old trees. The leaves are imparipinnate with winged rachis, 5–10 cm long and 1–2 cm wide. The flowers are white, smaller than in other Boswellia species, in sparse panicles. There are often fruits and flowers in panicles at the same time. The habitus of most of the trees is affected by cutting of young branches as a fodder for livestock.

ُللبان ُسقطرى أثنان من تحت النوع، أحدها ذو أوراق خضراء ).B socotrana subsp. socotrana( واآلخر ذو أوراق رمادية شمعية )B. socotrana subsp. aspleniifolia(. ُلبان ُسقطرى من األشجار أرضية التجذر، أما الحاء فلونه رمادي قاتم، أملس ومتقشر لألشجار الكبرية بالعمر، واألوراق ريشية فردية مع عنق مجنح، يرتاوح طولها ما بني ٥-١٠سم أما العرض ما بني ١- ٢سم. واألزهار بيضاء وأصغر حجما ًمن األنواع األخرى من ُّاللبان يف عثاكل متناثرة. غالبا ًما تتواجد األزهار والثمار يف نفس الوقت عىل العثكول. أما الهيئة ملعظهم هذه األشجار متأثرة من قطع األغصان الغضة من أجل اطعامها للماشية.
