Because of scheduling conflicts at the newly established polling place (New Light Church of God) related to the primary election delay, STONY HILL COMMUNITY CENTER has been reestablished as the polling place for 3/14/2002 precinct 14-02 in the northern Wake County/New Light Township area. Voters had not yet been notified by mail of the March 6 polling place change. New voter cards will be issued by mail to voters in the precinct on March 25, 2002 indicating the STONY HILL COMMUNITY CENTER as the voting place.
The State Board of Elections delayed all primaries scheduled for May 7, 2002, and agreed to meet immediately 3/12/2002 after the Supreme Court ruling on the constitutionality of the legislative redistricting plans. The county Boards of Election are awaiting direction from the State Board regarding a new 2002 primary election schedule.
