Printed by The Printing House Ltd Chairman’s Foreword I look back to last season with a tremendous amount of pride on what the Club has achieved by reaching the final of the MCCA One Day Competition and the performance in the three day championship. The team has made great strides in both forms of the game with a blend of experience and exciting new talent. The team was well led by Richard Oliver in his first season as Captain culminating in a number of match winning performances. His self-belief and ever positive approach was infectious and helped in securing many notable and exciting victories when the odds were against us. Richard would be the first to acknowledge the contribution of the team management, senior players and in particular the support of the vice-captain Anthony Parker. We look forward to building on this success for the forthcoming season. Richard recognises the commitment and inclusiveness of the players to help repeat and improve performances over both forms of the game. Whilst I have positive reflections of the season nevertheless there is a tinge of disappointment that we were not able to sustain the level of performances towards the end of the campaign. This illustrates the perennial problem the Club has faced over a number of years of injuries and availability at crucial stages of the season. It is interesting to note that of those teams who have won the championship in recent years they have done so with a small squad of 14 players whilst in comparison the Shropshire squad for the season involved up to 23 players. The Club has recognised the importance of nurturing talented young players in the County and we are working closely with the Shropshire Cricket Board to identify players coming through their own programme that will in time progress in to the full senior squad. We have also put in place an extensive winter programme for current squad members to develop and improve their skills. This includes both one to one coaching and group sessions. The programme is being led by our coach Kevin Sharp who has been a tremendous asset and confidant to the players and I would like to thank him for his contribution in developing the side in to a very professional outfit and the envy of many other county clubs. We are very fortunate to have secured someone of Kevin’s calibre and experience and whilst his contribution throughout the season was exceptional his input to the player’s on- going development will be invaluable resulting in more consistent performances. Another key member in the Club’s success was that of Team Manager Terry O’Connor. Terry has been terrific in helping to develop a wonderful squad of players and was also instrumental in securing the services of Kevin as coach to the County side. As you may be aware Terry announced his retirement as Team Manager at the end of the 2013 season. I would like to take the opportunity to thank him for his invaluable contribution during his time with the Club. Terry has built up a very special and trusting relationship with all the players and his advice and guidance will be sorely missed by us all. In recognition of his services we are planning to make a presentation at the beginning of this next season and in the meantime we wish him well for the future.

Bilal Shafayat returned to the side, but new professional Ben Sanderson was unable to play through injury. New captain Richard Oliver won the toss and asked Lincolnshire to bat and was immediately rewarded as Joe Leach bowled Karanjit Bansal for a . Daniel Birch (38) played belligerently but it was a partnership of 142 between ex Derbyshire batsman Matthew Lineker (97) and former captain Paul Cook (55) which formed the basis of the innings. When Cook was dismissed at 215 the innings quickly subsided and Lincolnshire were all out for 261 off 48.2 overs after they had looked likely to top 300. The Shropshire bowlers worked hard, and there were 3 wickets for Michael Barnard, 2 each for Dan Bowen and Bilal Shafayat and one for Joe Leach as well as 2 run outs. The Shropshire reply got off to a disastrous start with Richard Oliver playing on to the first ball of the innings but Ed Foster (45) and Bilal Shafayat (23) steadied the ship before Joe Leach (69), Rob Foster (68*) and Jono Whitney (26*) saw Shropshire home to a comfortable victory with 20 balls to spare. This was a very professional performance from the home team. Umpires: A Hicks and M Qureshi Scorers: CL Barthorpe and S Clayton

Langford 2 0 6 0 Shropshire successfully transferred their impressive one-day form to the three-day game as they launched their Minor Counties Championship campaign in style with a fine seven- wicket win at Wiltshire. Skipper Richard Oliver, having already led the county to four MCCA Trophy victories to set up a quarter final against Wales at Shifnal on Sunday, maintained the winning habit at South Wilts CC. “It was an awesome effort,” said a delighted Oliver. Shropshire refused to panic even when Wiltshire, inspired by an unbeaten 227 from Michael Coles, racked up a formidable 434-9 in their first innings.Teenage opener Steve Leach top scored with 91, hitting 17 fours, as Shropshire responded with 357 all out, a total further boosted by half centuries from Wellington youngster Joe Clarke (61) and skipper Oliver (56). There were also useful contributions from James Ralph (30), Omar Ali (29), Bilal Shafayat (28) and Anthony Parker (23no). Double centurion Coles was dismissed by Joe Leach (4-62) for a duck as Wiltshire were removed for 159 second time round. And the hosts were also undone by Whitchurch’s Dan Bowen (3-27) as he took his number of victims for the match to an impressive seven having picked up 4-94 in the first innings when spinner Elliot Green (2-80) also played his part. That left Shropshire chasing 237 for victory on the final day and they reached their target, just three wickets down.Former Nottinghamshire star Shafayat led the way with 98, Oliver weighed in with 72 and allrounder Joe Leach saw the job through with an unbeaten 45.
