Alfieri is a reinstated amateur who played on the Nationwide Tour (now Web.com Tour) from 2005 to 2007, notching six top-25 finishes. He has won the Florida State Match Play, Mid-Amateur and Four-Ball championships. Alfieri, who is a vice president of a graphic design services company, was chosen Florida State Golf Association Player of the Year four times. Colby Amparan, 33, of Fort Worth, Texas, is a singer/songwriter who had recorded two albums and plays locally in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Amparan, who manages a commercial and residential window cleaning company, is competing in his first USGA championship. He won the 2015 Fort Worth city title with a final-round 67 to overcome a one-stroke deficit. Bart Barnes, 33, of Troy, Ala., is in his fifth year as the head women’s golf coach at Troy University. Barnes, who previously was an assistant coach for Troy’s men’s and women’s programs, has guided the Trojans to three Sun Belt Conference titles and three NCAA regional appearances. David Bolen, 38, of Lubbock, Texas, advanced to the semifinals of the 2015 U.S. Mid-Amateur, his first USGA championship since the 2001 U.S. Amateur. Bolen, who works as a dental sales manager, spends time skiing and four-wheeling in the state of Colorado. In 2016, he made the 36-hole cut in the Trans- Mississippi Amateur at The Olympic Club, in San Francisco, Calif. Geno Bonnalie, 33, of Lewiston, Idaho, is PGA Tour caddie who is currently working with Joel Dahmen. The two switched roles for U.S. Mid-Amateur qualifying on Sept. 10 when Bonnalie earned a spot in his first USGA championship. Bonnalie made a formal application for Rory McIlroy’s caddie position in mid- August. In 2011, he set the Guinness world record by playing 2,000 holes in one week (16 rounds per day) while raising funds for Cystinosis Research Foundation. He also suited up as the University of Idaho’s athletic mascot, Joe the Vandal, as a collegian. Sherrill Britt, 52, of West End, N.C., teamed with partner Greg Earnhardt as the runners-up in the 2015 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball, held at The Olympic Club. He has played in five USGA championships, including the 2013 U.S. Mid-Amateur. Britt, who is a self-employed home building contractor, was influenced by Peggy Kirk Bell, the USGA’s Bob Jones Award recipient in 1990. Claudio Consul, 34, of Germany, reached the Round of 16 in last year’s U.S. Mid-Amateur, his first USGA championship. Consul, who competed against 2014 U.S. Open champion Martin Kaymer as a junior golfer, earned his doctorate in engineering from the University of Oxford in England. He won the 2002 German Amateur, 2004 Italian Amateur and 2016 European Mid-Amateur. In 2017, he advanced to match play in the Australian Amateur and tied for eighth in the ProGolf Tour’s Gut Bissenmoor Classic.
