Fire Technology Special Issue
Fire Technology is the interdisciplinary journal of the National Fire Protection
Association (NFPA), the Society of Fire Lithium Battery Fire Safety Protection Engineers (SFPE) and Springer Nature, spanning the whole range of fire Guest Editors: safety science and engineering. It is the oldest fire journal, publishing Prof. Qingsong Wang, University of Science and continuously since 1965. Technology of China, China, [email protected]. Its 2017 Impact Factor is 1.483. The aims are to support and advocate for Prof. Jennifer Wen, University of Warwick, UK. research and education in fire safety engineering and reduce the worldwide Prof. Stanislav Stoliarov, University of Maryland, burden of fire hazards. USA.
st Selected papers presented at 1 International Symposium on Lithium Battery Fire Safety (1st ISLBFS, 18-20, July, 2019, Hefei, China) will be invited by the Guest Editors to
www.springer.com/10694 submit to the special issue of Fire Technology for peer review.
Deadline for paper submission to 1st ISLBFS is 28th Feb, 2019. Instructions at liion1.csp.escience.cn.
Lithium based batteries are widely used in portable electronic devices, electric vehicles, electrochemical energy storage stations and other power systems. Battery fire safety has been a research topic since 1990s and has gained increasing importance in recent years as many fire accidents occurred.
Battery fire is a complex phenomenon, which involves multiple physical and chemical processes inside and outside the casing. Suppression of these fires is an unsolved problem associated with thermal runaway, propagation, a chemistry not based on external oxygen, and flaming combustion.
