“Keith Moon: the Real Me” at the 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival 5/8/2019 KeithMoon.HFF.PressRelease.May 8 draft - Google Docs FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 8, 2019 Media Contact: Michael Blaha 310-714-2928 [email protected] “KEITH MOON: THE REAL ME” AT THE 2019 HOLLYWOOD FRINGE FESTIVAL “KEITH MOON: THE REAL ME” – THE STORY OF THE LEGENDARY DRUMMER OF THE WHO Los Angeles, CA, May 8, 2019 – “ Keith Moon: The Real Me” explodes on the stage with the turmoil and excitement of the wildest drummer in rock and roll. A living legend during his lifetime, Keith Moon still stands as the pinnacle of rock-star extremism—both in life and music. The play explores the mind of Keith Moon, as he attempts to save himself from the unbearable burden of living up (or down) to his self-created legend of ‘Moon the Loon'. As Keith attempts to save himself, he takes the audience on a journey through his early struggles, his joining The Who, and their rise as one of the world’s greatest rock bands. By the show’s end, the audience intimately knows the man behind the myth—his acute vulnerability and insecurity, and his struggle to escape the ever-looming rock and roll crash landing. “ Keith Moon: The Real Me” opens on June 7 at The Broadwater Second Stage, 6320 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90038. “Great to hear classic Who material. A tour de force that had the audience on its feet on multiple occasions.” For All Events “Mick Berry takes us inside the mind of Moon to reveal the insanity. He recreates (with almost perfect accuracy) Moon’s brilliant drumming . thrilling" Talkin’ Broadway Written and Performed by Mick Berry; Directed by Nancy Carlin; Musical Director: Frank Simes; Presented by: Fringe Management, LLC WHERE: The Broadwater Second Stage, 6320 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, CA https://docs.google.com/document/d/1oh2hz4yAGZZuDeIScWyOpURmVeNi-R8zkXhllpdyIUk/edit 1/3 5/8/2019 KeithMoon.HFF.PressRelease.May 8 draft - Google Docs PERFORMANCE DATES: Friday, June 07, 8:00 PM Saturday, June 15, 5:00 PM Thursday, June 20, 7:00 PM Saturday, June 22, 11:30 PM Saturday, June 27, 6:30 PM Running Time: 1 hour - Ages 12+ TICKETS: $15.00 - h ttps://www.hollywoodfringe.org/projects/6037 After its world premiere at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, K eith Moon: The Real Me w ill be presented at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe 31 July – 26 August at the prestigious Gilded Balloon. The tour will open in Bethel, NY on Friday, June 8th at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, where Daltrey and his band will be joined on stage by the acclaimed Hudson Valley Philharmonic, showcasing the beloved classics from the 1969 rock opera, including “Pinball Wizard,” “See Me, Feel Me” and more. Considered one of the seminal albums of the rock canon, last year The Who played all of TOMMY for the first time in 28 years at the Royal Albert Hall in London as part of a benefit concert for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Roger performed it in its entirety with his band during his 2011 solo tour. The opportunity to bring an orchestral dynamic to the raw emotion and cathartic impact of the songs that cemented Daltrey’s legacy as a vocal powerhouse adds a compelling dimension to the music’s timelessness.

  • Tommy” Album from Start to Finish
ROGER DALTREY TO PERFORM THE WHO’S LEGENDARY “TOMMY” ALBUM FROM START TO FINISH PLUS A VARIETY OF THE WHO’S CLASSICS - AND MORE On the heels of his recent sell out performance at The Royal Albert Hall in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, ROGER DALTREY is now taking The Who’s legendary rock opera TOMMY on the road. The last time The Who toured Tommy live was in 1989. In the upcoming tour, Roger is pulling out all the stops with his stunning young band - Frank Simes (guitar), Scott Deavours (drums), Jon Button(Bass), Loren Gold (Keyboards) and SIMON TOWNSHEND, younger brother of PETE, (guitar) – and employing an exciting new array of visuals. TOMMY is not only one of the most acclaimed and defining works of the rock era, it is an enduring album that resonates on radio to this day where it has found multi-generational appeal. Inducted into The Grammy Hall of Fame in 1998, the 20 million-selling double album also spawned a successful 1975 film of the same name--with DALTREY playing the title role- -which re-underlined its place in the cultural firmament. Commenting on the tour, Pete Townshend says ''Great to see Roger performing TOMMY with his band in 2011. I will be there in spirit and Roger has my complete and most loving support. Roger is touring his unique concert version of TOMMY using his faithful presentation of the original work as the backbone for a set of wider material. It is wonderful to hear the way Roger and his new band re-interpret the old Who songs.'' Throughout this tour, songs such as “Pinball Wizard,” “The Acid Queen,” “I’m Free,” “See Me, Feel Me” and “We’re Not Gonna Take It” promise to transport attendees into the world of this classic album with shuddering intensity and poetic power.

Behind Who’s eyes https://www.goldminemag.com/articles/behind-whos-eyes Posted in Articles, Features | Tags: Frank Simes, The Who Goldmine the Music Collector’s Magazine April 24, 2015 | Lee Zimmerman Pete Towshend and Roger Daltrey at the rehearsal studio with their musical director, Frank Simes. Photo courtesy of Frank Simes. By Lee Zimmerman Although he’s played a critical role in dozens of high-profile projects over the years, for most, the name Frank Simes is unlikely to spark even the faintest glimmer of recognition. That despite the fact that the artists with whom he’s worked — Mick Jagger, Don Henley, Timothy B. Schmit, Don Felder, Englebert Humperdinck, Stevie Nicks, Rod Stewart, David Lee Roth, Warren Zevon and Roger Waters, among them — are some of the biggest in the biz. Indeed, as the musical arranger for The Who — he arranged and scored the band’s recent reworking of “Quadrophenia” and the solo work of Roger Daltrey (including the singer’s own tour with “Tommy”) — he’s been charged with overseeing two of the most revered works in rock history. His role as Daltrey’s musical director led him in turn to Pete Townshend, who charged him with creating the first live production of their early ‘70s epic, “Quadrophenia.” Last year, Simes toured with the band as they took the project around the world. Indeed, the recently released Blu- ray, DVD and CD recorded in London finds Simes’ credits as musical director and keyboard player. Goldmine recently had an opportunity to speak to Simes after he returned from a series of shows with Daltrey in Hawaii.
