Member Updates Marilyn Sourgose (City): Thank you to everyone who attended our meet up in Old Town Newhall – saw parking structure, walked down Main Street, had appetizers at Newhall Press Room. July 19 - most attended and popular theme: BEACH PARTY (July 19). If you haven’t already, check it out for yourself and encourage your staff and guests to too.

Mariella Masuda (Hyatt) – It’s great to see what the City is doing with that area (Old Town Newhall) and we’ve been really pushing it to our groups as a fun thing to do. But it would be helpful to know how they can accommodate groups, team building events, what they can do for 50 people, what they can do for 100 people? Or if they can get us a contact person who can arrange something like that for group events.

Andrea Bishop (Sand Canyon Country Club) - We are a 27-hole golf course open to the public at 6 a.m. Also a banquet hall and event center in a beautiful setting overlooking the course - can hold corporate events and special occasions. The owner of our country club is diligently working on plans to open a resort and spa on the property. Council meeting tonight (July 10). This project is probably about 3 years down the line.

Barbara Meyer (Reyes Winery) - We are having a wine vertical on sweet wines on July 14. We also have a Zonta event on July 22 which Beth will be cooking for. It will be $25 and $30 at the door. We will be working on the wine train at Fillmore and Western Railway and that will be happening in August.

Sue Hayward (Reyes Winery) – I am also here representing Reyes. We do a really nice monthly hike. We also do a Paella Day, weddings and parties. It’s a great winery, right near Le Chene.

Cheryl Anderson (Hometown Tourism) – I’m working on a map of Santa Clarita that the hotels can give out to their guests.

Rashel Zayayou and Cassandra Finch (Embassy Suites) - We have our menu for World Cup specials that goes until Sunday. Fourth of July was a success for us.

Mariella Masuda (Hyatt) - Some of you know me from 10 years ago. I spent the last 10 months in Westlake which was a 50-mile commute, so I’m happy to back. I’m very excited to have a full team.

Joelyn Caprine & Breyana Rader (Hyatt) - We had a great 4th of July as. We auctioned off parking spaces so people could watch the fireworks and 100% of the proceeds went to Saving Carter.

Trevor Tauber (Courtyard/DimDev) - The only news I have is that Hampton Inn will be undergoing renovation in October.

John Fregeau (Ice Station Valencia) - In 2000, I was the marketing manager while the facility was under construction. Our schedule is action packed -- this past weekend we had a big curling event. Our next big upcoming event is CAHA (California Amateur Hockey Association) which will have a minimum of 56 teams for Memorial Day weekend. After the CAHA event we have all the people return in November, Deceber and January, when we host our own tournaments. The one thing we need on our counter is material like this: visitor guides, maps, suggestions for places people can go. We’ve got people coming in all the time and they want to know what’s around. I can even include these in our packets tournament packets.

Jeff Casali (Six Flags Magic Mountain) – I work to help integrate Six Flags with the surrounding community, promote businesses in Santa Clarita and build relationships. Our guests spend an average of 8.5 hours in the park and are tired when done. We’re working on getting them to extend their trip - cool off at a hotel pool, get some wine, go for a round of golf, visit a lake and go fishing - we’ve got so much to offer. All those coasters take a toll on the body and we are saying why not stay a little longer and relax. We are also looking at more tentpole events. Our Fourth of July event was much bigger this year - instead of one, it was five nights. We are putting a lot of money into Fright Fest this year. Holiday in the Park was huge for us last year.

Karina Winkler (Holiday Inn) - Renovation planned to start at the end of the year, no date yet.

Marichu Pejora (Hilton Garden Inn) I’m here with Chris and Danny. Revenue is doing better than the time of gas leaks. The Weekly Events listing is very helpful, we share it a lot with our guests. The biggest challenge we have is getting people to Six Flags. We did fun specials for World Cup and have new neighbors opening soon - Coffee Bean and McDonalds. New traffic light being put up.

Danny Efron (Hilton Garden Inn): Banquets have been busy. We are focusing on the restaurant. World Cup helped restaurant sales - it was a lot of fun and helped us showcase food and drink specials. We are inviting you to try our new food for 10% off (breakfast or dinner). We have an ongoing fundraiser benefiting Give Kids the World and we have a Red Cross blood drive coming up.

Jennifer Chadwick (Salt Creek Grille) - We are selling a lot of salads this summer. Coming up: Boys and Girls Club wine dinner ($100 per person) – sells out every year. September 13 - wine dinner for profit with Cass winery. Also doing a smaller tasting and app night for Project Sebastian Foundation. We are renovating a little bit since we’re 19 years old - new carpet, new paint, changing our menu. Sundown Sundays thru September. Private parties: up to 30 people in our private dining room, 80 on the patio, 30 cocktail-style by the fire pit. We also have full- service catering.

Barbara Myler (Valencia Jazz and Blues) - I love the collaborative effort of what we’re doing here. This is our 19th year. We feature nationally recognized groups, not cover bands. Hyatt and Salt Creek, it’s a privilege to work with our sponsors. Each week we feature a new charity at our bar. It’s a family event that’s free to the public. I’ve watched people meet, marry and have babies at this event. Dancing with Our Stars - I’m dancing for Henry Mayo (my 4th time). 100% of the proceeds from each vote goes to the non-profit. Thank you all for your support.

Susan Hayward - I just want to add that Hyatt has a lovely happy hour beforehand. We usually come early and have a little drink and a bite to eat before we go dance (at the Valencia Jazz and Blues Concert). It’s a blast.

The Hyatt sales team took those interested on a room tour.
