Nov 01, 2012 09:57 UTC Elephant Parade opens worlds first flagship "Elephant Parade House" in Chiang Mai, Thailand Elephant Parade, the world’s largest open-air exhibition, announces the opening of Elephant Parade House - its first permanent flagship venue in Chiang Mai, Asia on October 12th. The unveiling of Elephant Parade House this October gives Elephant Parade its first fixed home. In addition to providing a permanent home for many of Elephant Parade’s signature city elephants, the house will also feature a learning centre, operated by The Asian Elephant Foundation, where people can learn about elephant conservation issues. In keeping with the Elephant Parade ethos, serious issues and having fun are inseparable. Families can attend workshops to paint their own elephants and also learn about the real issues facing elephants and the work of the Asian Elephant Foundation. Mike Spits said: “Chiang Mai is the epicenter of Asian elephants in Thailand. Asian elephants played and continue to play such an enormously important role in the past, present and future of Thailand. We have created an experience that is fun, educational and artistic. Through our art studios and work with elephant hospitals, Thailand has always been the heartbeat of Elephant Parade so it’s a natural choice for the Elephant Parade House. For the millions of people that have enjoyed Elephant Parade on their doorstep, there is now an open invitation for everyone to come to Elephant Parade House and visit the elephants where they live.” Elephant Parade is the world’s largest open air art exhibition of decorated elephant statues that seeks to attract public awareness and support for Asian elephant conservation. Created by local and international artists, each elephant is a unique piece of art. • Jewelz and Sparks Go Bananas About Elephant Parade
German DJ and Producer duo “Jewelz and Sparks” have created a new life-size, baby elephant statue for Elephant Parade Oct 04, 2018 10:48 UTC Jewelz and Sparks go bananas about Elephant Parade International German DJ and Producer duo “Jewelz and Sparks” have created a new life-size, baby elephant statue for Elephant Parade to raise awareness and funds for Asian elephants. The new Jewelz and Sparks’ design draws inspiration from popular music culture, and their trademark diamond shaped logo. The design also features bananas, a food staple both for elephants that also happens to be part of the DJ duo’s travel diet. Whilst touring in Thailand, Gregor Brechman - also known as “Sparks” - had his first encounter with a real elephant – it was Mosha, the baby Elephant whose story inspired the created of Elephant Parade 12 years ago. Mosha lost part of her leg whilst stepping on a landmine and her plight moved Elephant Parade founders Marc and Mike Spits to raise money to have the world’s first elephant prosthetic leg made for Mosha. So began the story of Elephant Parade. Since the first Elephant Parade event in 2007, the welfare of thousands of elephants have been supported and a statue of Mosha has featured in every Elephant Parade since – a symbol of bravery and overcoming adversity. Following his meeting with Mosha, Sparks also saw many of the Elephant Parade art statues dotted around Chiang Mai and learnt about the work of Elephant Parade in raising awareness for Asian elephants in general. Elephant Parade® is a social enterprise and runs the world’s largest art exhibition of decorated elephant statues.

  • Magazinethe a Style to Remember
MAGAZINETHE A STYLE TO REMEMBER No.12 THE MAGAZINE TARGETS INTERNATIONAL READERS WHO ARE INTENT ON FULFILLING THEIR DREAMS. his is what the French author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry had to say on the subject of vision: “If you want to build a ship, don‘t drum up people to collect wood […], but teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea”. Another, description, this time penned early in the 16th century by Tthe Irish writer and satirist Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver‘s Travels, went like this: “Vision is the art of seeing things invisible”. A vision is a description of how something should turn out in the future. The aim behind a vision may be rather ambitious, but it should not be divorced from reality. Visions comprise missions, values and strate- gies. For example, Christopher Columbus’ mission was to discover the sea route to India, but his vision was to esta- blish a trading empire, and of course he ended up disco- vering America. Values often exert a stronger influence than official orders, and strategy is a long-term approach based on fundamentals combined with the pursuit of strategic objectives over a lengthy time- frame. The countless exam- ples of visions and visionaries range from the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World to Henry Ford, whose vision was to make a car for the masses, to the more recent entrepreneurs Richard Branson of Virgin Group and Steve Jobs of Apple. GHM sets out to realise visions, too, of course. The Group’s very first resort, located in a rainforest setting, was a world first.

  • Elephant Parade Trier-Luxemburg 2013 – Fact Sheet
