Jersey Events 2019 Tuesday 1 January New Year’s Day ‘Turkey Buster’ Walk Stride out with the National Trust for Jersey on the annual New Year’s Day walk. It’s the perfect ‘active’ start to the year and a fun and social way to bring in the New Year. You will be guided by one of Jersey’s most experienced guides, Bob Tompkins, on a wonderful winter walk to brush off the Christmas ‘blues’ and lose a few calories in the process! This year the walk is a gentle ramble around the beautiful parish of St Mary along small, very quiet lanes and stunning scenery. For more information visit: www.nationaltrust.je Thursday 14 – Sunday 17 March The Spring Festival of Creative Arts 2019 (TBC) The Jersey Eisteddfod Festival is held in March each year the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society Headquarters in Trinity and is truly well worth a visit to see the wide variety of arts and crafts produced. The 3-day show takes place right in the maritime heart of St Helier. Featuring power and sail, side by side, it also offers the best of Jersey - history, food, drink and entertainment. Live performers on the main stage provide a buzzing atmosphere as visitors gain access to stunning 5-star luxury vessels. There will be a re- enactment of the act of Liberation, the arrival of the Liberating Forces and the successive flying of flags, a uniformed march-past and a drive-past by old civilian and military motor vehicles. The marquee village will showcase all things Italian; music, singing and dancing, fashion, food and wine, cars, Vespa’s and bicycles, and children's entertainment. For more information visit: www.vivaitalia.je/event Friday 17 – Sunday 19 May 13th Parish Festival The 13th Parish Festival is a new independent film and music festival, based in Jersey but created in partnership with friends in every direction, happening at the Jersey Arts Centre in St Helier. They will be screening a range of brand new international films from their partners at Ireland's prestigious IndieCork Film Festival (www.indiecork.com) as well as showcasing work by film makers, musicians and other media artists from the Channel Islands. For more information visit: www.13thparish.org.je Thursday 23 – Monday 27 May Love Nature Festival (TBC) A celebration of the natural environment, habitats and landscapes managed by the National Trust for Jersey. The #LoveNature festival includes bat walks and tours, bug safaris, pond dipping, the opening of the orchid fields, rock pool rambles, environmental films, walks around St Ouen’s pond and Grouville Jersey Events 2019 Marsh, forest bathing and bird tours. The #LoveNature festival centres in and around St. Ouen’s Bay, Grouville Marsh and Victoria Tower. Most activities can take up to 100 people. For more information visit: www.nationaltrust.je Sunday 26 May Sunshine ‘A Little Music Festival’ (TBC) Sunshine is the little Music Festival that has traditionally put fantastic world class acts into unfeasibly small spaces. Since 2009, Sunshine has continued to find a way to bring visiting artists to Jersey to share the stage with local performers & DJ’s in what has become known as one of the best events on the local calendar. Sunshine is a boutique celebration of live music, a chance for the dedicated few to witness true artists up and close and in a completely intimate way that’s not so easy to find anymore. For more information visit: www.facebook.com/SunshineJsy/ Thursday 30 May – Sunday 2 June The Jersey International Motoring Festival (TBC) Steep winding hills and straights beside the long beaches provide the perfect combination for a motoring festival, and Jersey has it all. The festival is the largest annual motoring event in the Channel Islands, with competitive sprint and hill climbs for classic and vintage cars and motorcycles, a touring event for visitors and locals alike visiting various places of interest and stopping for refreshments around the island. There is also a large static motor show, motor and ancillary trade stands and exhibits from Jersey motoring clubs. For more information visit: www.jimf.je Saturday 8 June The Vistra / Bloodwise Jersey Kids’ Triathlon (TBC) The Jersey Kids Triathlon is now in its seventh year and will take place at Les Quennevais Sports and Leisure Centre. The aim of the event is to raise valuable funds for the Bloodwise (formerly Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research) Charity, through participation in a fun kid’s triathlon event. The event is open to all children of all abilities aged between 6 to 13 (School Years 2-8). For more information visit: www.jerseykidstriathlon.com Sunday 9 June Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management Jersey Half Marathon (TBC) The Run Jersey Half Marathon is a scenic, fast point to point road race which attracts around 400 runners. The Half Marathon can either be run as an individual or as a four-person team (each team member must complete the half marathon). Prizes are on offer for the top three runners in each age group. It has established itself as the premier island walk and it will continue the great tradition of what has become one of the Island's largest one-day fund raising events. The tough challenge along with the beauty of the route that passes along Jersey's beautiful coastline, sandy beaches, dramatic cliffs and stunning countryside makes this a fundraising event with a difference. For more information visit: www.jerseystyleawards.com/ Sunday 30 June Accuro Jersey Triathlon (TBC) The Jersey Triathlon is the most Southerly triathlon of the British Isles and is one of the most exciting, challenging and picturesque courses in Britain. In 2013 the event had a makeover and relocated the core race areas to the waterfront in St Helier, as it commenced its preparations for the hosting the Jersey 2015 Island Games triathlon event. It also added a shorter Super Sprint race to the day as well as team relay option on the Olympic course. The Jersey Triathlon 2019 will continue to follow this course, meaning that it will be identical to the course that Jersey Events 2019 was used for the NatWest Island Games Event in June 2015. Monday 8 – Sunday 14 July Le French Festival (TBC) Le French Festival celebrates Jersey's links with France, and gathers all lovers of this special relationship around a rich entertaining programme.
