Introduction of Sponsorship for HEP and BEP Tak Border Child Assistance Foundation (TBCAF) INTRODUCTION OF SPONSORSHIP FOR HIGHER EDUCATION PROJECT (HEP) AND BASIC EDUCATION PROJECT (BEP) 1. WHY SPONSORSHIP BY TBCAF? The target area of TBCAF to offer service is in Tak province, including five border districts: Tha Song Yang District, Mae Ramat District, Mae Sot District, Pop Pra Distract, and Umphang District. Target groups that TBCAF emphasizes are children from low-income family, working family, neglected and vulnerable children who have less access to basic and high education. Within TBCAF’s Sponsorship for HEP and BEP in one year, from May 2008 to April 2009, there are two main parts of this project: (1) Sponsorship for students to complete high school or college (2) Sponsorship for branch schools in remote villages. From May 2008 to April 2009, TBCAF will launch Sponsorship for HEP and BEP stepwise and achieve whole activities within the sponsorship. Sponsorship review, reporting will be done every 6 months. Monitoring will be conducted by coordinator and field staff once per 3 months. Two reviewing reports will be submitted to the board of TBCAF and two newsletters will be sent to all the sponsors. 2. INTRODUCTION OF WHAT TBCAF SUPPORTS IN SPONSORSHIP l Support Remote Branch School (Sponsorship for BEP) Teachers are on the frontline to face and teach students in school. Definitely the quality of school education must be relevant to amount of teachers, floating rate of teachers and other aspects. There are total 47 students in this branch school. For this sponsorship, TBCAF will support salary, 3,000 Baht per month, for one full-time teacher and this teacher will teach grade one to grade three. l Support Students from Remote Village (Sponsorship for HEP) TBCAF considers that developing human resource must be invested via education especially for the young people and children in remote area, for this sponsorship TBCAF focus on remote village. From May 2008 to April 2009, there are four students coming from two remote villages for advanced study in Mae Sot. TBCAF will support 2,300 Baht for one student per month, including accommodation, meals in dormitory, school lunch, uniforms, tuition, and necessary material for advanced study. Furthermore, two main purposes for the projects are to offer opportunity for advanced study to the students living in remote villages who used to have well performance in schoolwork and to maintain the quality of formal education in remote branch schools. According to the content of contract, TBCAF will support 2,300 Baht for one student per month, including accommodation, meals in dormitory, school lunch, uniforms, tuition, and necessary material for advanced study and support salary of teacher(s), 3,000 Baht per month, for remote branch school to maintain having sufficient teachers. Contract of sponsorship has to be signed between sponsor and director of TBCAF. However, sponsor and director of TBCAF who sign this contract must observe all articles and regulations listed in contract. All content of this contract has been approved by the board of TBCAF. All the rights that sponsor and TBCAF have are listed as below: l Sponsor receives newsletter from TBCAF once per half year. l Sponsor has the right to inquire for financial report of Sponsorship for HEP and BEP. l TBCAF board has the right to select students l TBCAF board has the right to adjust the content of sponsorship according to realistic needs.
