Missing participants Dirk Meusel and Pekka Oja Introduction by Agneta Yngve Agneta welcomed everyone and a short presentation followed. She outlined the expected outcomes of this steering committee meeting: 1. Make technical amendments in the Grant Agreement 2. Revise the agenda for today’s meeting in the main group 3. Set schedule for coming meetings The group agreed on the agenda for today’s meeting in the Steering Committee Meeting. Discussions of the Grant Agreement and the role of the Task forces Knut-Inge made comments that there are evident mistakes in the Grant Agreement. For example on p. 27” (…) Prepare and submit project proposals to the PH Programme 2004 and 2005 (…)” We are in fact a bit too late. Those obvious errors can easily be corrected. Knut-Inge also suggested that we should focus on the expected results of the project (p.34 Grant Agreement), especially the verifiable and quantitative results. Michael stressed the importance that the taskforce also give proposals for the coming years. What will be done the next years? How to co-ordinate activities with ongoing projects? How to address the issue to DG SANCO and DG RESEARCH? Find projects that are politically feasible and make them more visible. Knut-Inge made comments that we should presently look at the 6th Framework Research Programme since the submission time of project proposals are running out. We need to identify upcoming and present calls in relevant areas as well as lobby relevant areas! Michael stressed the importance of networking with recently funded DG Research projects, e.g. HELENA. Michael made comments that the project phase is actually prolonged with one year due to errors within the commission. (p.3, Grant Agreement). Agneta stressed the fact that the funding remains the same even if we prolong it.
