Set Timeout Timers:

If you desire to stop it early (say, referee is ready to begin play early), press TIME OUT TIMER CLEAR , TIME OUT TIMER CLEAR .

Note: the TIME OUT TIMER will not work if game clock is running.

Do not turn controller off between games. If power to controller is inadvertently lost (i.e., plug comes out, etc.) the system will ask DO YOU WISH TO START WHERE TURNED OFF LAST? ENTER YES OR NO ENTER YES . All settings should refresh.

BEFORE EACH GAME

Press SET , TIME

Younger teams (two 20 minute halves) SET MM:SS.s ENTER 2, 0, 0, 0, 0, YES PERIOD ENTER 1

Older teams (four 6 minute quarters) (N.B.: High school quarters are 7 min. for JV and 8 min. for V) SET MM:SS.s ENTER O, 6, 0, 0, 0, YES PERIOD ENTER 1

BETWEEN QUARTERS SET MM:SS.s ENTER O, 6, 0, 0, 0, YES PERIOD ENTER 2 (or 4)

ENTER TIME OUT TIMER START , 1 (one minute between quarters)

HALF TIME

ENTER HOME TEAM FOULS , 0 ENTER GUEST TEAM FOULS , 0 CLEAR BONUS, IF ANY .

Set the clock for next period play.

ENTER TIME OUT TIMER START , 5 Half time is 5 minutes. Warning buzzer should sound when 1 minute remains since teams often spend half time in respective team rooms.

DURING GAME

Points: 1 Free throws / shots 2 Field goals 3 Three-pointers (FYI, referee will raise both hands)

To add score to home team, Press HOME SCORE , and # of points earned

To add score to guest team, Press GUEST SCORE , and # of points earned

FOULS:

When home team fouls, press HOME TEAM FOULS , 1

When guest team fouls, press GUEST TEAM FOULS , 1

If you need to correct anything that you have entered, press SET then press what you wish to change. For example, if home score is incorrect (scoreboard has 10 and it should be 9), press SET , HOME SCORE and then 9.

The handheld controller with toggle switch controls time. Toggle on/off. The small button will sound the horn (get attention of referee for substitutions, etc.) If the handheld controller beeps, toggle the time control to shut it off.

Jump Ball possession is shown on table.

Clear fouls and bonus at half and before game.

Press SET HOME TEAM FOULS 0

Press SET GUEST TEAM FOULS 0

Clear B and BB from scoreboard:

IMPORTANT

DO NOT LOOK AT SCOREBOARD; LOOK AT MPC-6 DISPLAY.

Press BONUS until H and G disappear from display on unit.

Press NO if there was only bonus, you might be done. If there was double bonus, you need to continue.

Press SET Press BONUS until h and g disappear from display on unit.

Press NO

Do NOT utilize a true 5 minute timer.

There is a known issue with Nevco’s MPC-6 model 134 (basketball) control with respect to the timer.

Please alert ALL who operate Saint Patricks scoreboard there is a known software glitch.

Do NOT utilize a 5 minute timer. (An easy work-around the glitch is to use a 4:59 timer.)
