  • Brunswick Corporation : Brunswick to Close Joinville Facility, Migrate Boat Manufacturing from Brazil
March 23, 2017 Brunswick Corporation : Brunswick to Close Joinville Facility, Migrate Boat Manufacturing from Brazil LAKE FOREST, Ill. March 23, 2017 - Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC) today announced it will immediately begin to wind down boat manufacturing operations in Joinville, Santa Catarina, Brazil, as it prepares to close the facility. The operation manufactures certain Bayliner and Sea Ray boat models for the South American market. Moving forward, this demand will be fulfilled through Brunswick's remaining global boat manufacturing footprint. "The region's continued weak economy has made it difficult to profitably serve these markets with a dedicated manufacturing facility," explained Huw Bower, president - Brunswick Boat Group. "With our existing commercial infrastructure and channel presence, we can return to our previous model of importing boats to the region to more efficiently and effectively fulfill demand to this important market." The Company said the resulting restructuring charges are estimated to be in the range of $10 million to $12 million pretax, substantially all of which will be recorded in the first quarter of 2017. Further, these actions are projected to have a modestly positive impact on earnings and a minimal impact on free cash flow, with the majority of the earnings benefit occurring in 2018. The Company further stated that this decision has no impact on its strategy or plans for Brunswick's Mercury Marine engine business or its Life Fitness business in the region. Though the region's economy continues to

  • Fischer Panda US to Equip the New Boston Whaler 350 Challenger
Fischer Panda US to Equip The New Boston Whaler 350 Challenger Brunswick Commercial and Government Products (BCGP), a leading manufacturer of watercraft for the government and workboat markets, has selected Fischer Panda Generators for their new 350 Challenger. The Boston Whaler OEM installation will involve the Fischer Panda 8 Mini DP AC generator, according to Chad Godwin, director of sales for the U.S. operations for Fischer Panda. Fischer Panda already provides generators for several other Boston Whaler models, including the 305 and 345 Conquest and 370 Outrage models. The 350 Challenger is a new Boston Whaler model manufactured by BCGP for military, law enforcement, port security, search and rescue (SAR), and workboat operations. The new 35-foot, 11-inch walkaround cabin model features an open cockpit and center helm layout for 360-degree access to facilitate boardings and other maneuvers. The 350 Challenger holds 421 gallons of fuel, and can be powered by dual or triple outboard engines up to 900 total horsepower. BCGP’s order, according to Godwin, continues the growth for Fischer Panda, where the reliable 8 Mini DP AC generator is netting strong sales. Powered by the reliable freshwater cooled Kubota Z428 twin cylinder diesel with Fischer Panda’s trademark freshwater-cooled asynchronous electrical end, the 8 Mini provides Fischer Panda North America with a recession-resilient sales leader, a big favorite in the 30 to 38 foot sportfishing power market as well as government and commercial users,' said Godwin. “More OEMs are switching to Fischer Panda, which are rated as the smallest, lightest, quietest and most efficient marine diesel generators in the world,” he added.
