The Commissioner of Education, with permission from Governor Murphy, announced that schools are able to utilize remote learning in the event the Board of Health directs us to close due to a COVID-19 outbreak (Guidance Regarding Requirements for Public Health-Related School Closure).
Details of the Remote Learning Plan during the extended closure are below:
Communication During Extended Closure ● FRHSD.com and Parent Letters (March 10, 2020 and March 2, 2020) ● FRHSD Facebook ● Dr. Sampson’s Twitter ● Internet connectivity permitting, all staff will have access to email during regularly scheduled school hours. ● Refer to School Directory for staff emails
Continued Operations During Extended Closure ● Our Food Service Management Company (Pomptonian) is preparing to provide packaged meals to eligible students. Freehold Boro High School and Howell High School will serve as the central pick up locations district-wide. Breakfast and lunch meals will be available for pickup Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM in the circular drive at the front entrance of each school. Eligible students must show their school identification to receive meals. Any expansion in hours of operation will be communicated through our website at FRHSD.com. ● BOE Meetings will be held via Google Hangout. The link will be available on FRHSD.com

Remote Learning Guidelines for Students ● Students have FRHSD student usernames and passwords and are enrolled in the password reset system. ○ Students will advise their teacher if they require assistance with their password ● Students will check their Google Classroom for all courses each day. ● Students will communicate with their course teachers with their FRHSD email and Google Classrooms for their courses. ● Students will use the online platform specified by the teacher to engage in learning. ○ Review materials, complete assignments, submit assignments ● Students will complete class assignments as provided by the teacher within established deadlines. ● Students will submit assignments in Google Classroom or as hard copy upon the return to school. ○ Student login and Gmail access instructions ○ Google Classroom - Finding, Completing, and Submitting Assignments
Staff Member Support to Students ● Staff members will communicate with students through FRHSD email and Google Classroom/apps. ● Staff members will monitor email during the regular scheduled school day. ● Staff members will post assignments in Google Classroom on the days the class meets. ○ The block schedule will continue during remote learning to determine which classes are scheduled for the day (the specific time does not apply during Remote Learning). ○ Assignments will be posted by 8:15 a.m. on the days the class is scheduled. ○ Assignments may be per lesson or multi-day lessons to deliver the curriculum. ○ Teachers will provide clear guidance on how assignments should be completed and submitted. ● Teachers will grade assignments and post grades in Genesis routinely. ● Staff members will continue routine parent communications using Genesis. If students are not submitting assignments, teachers will communicate with the parent and student.
Provisions for Appropriate Special Education and Related Services for Students with Disabilities ● All education resources used during the extended closure will be differentiated to meet the needs of all students as appropriate. ● Related Services for Students with Disabilities will be addressed upon return from an extended school closure.
Counseling Services Available to Students ● Email access to counselors during the regular scheduled school day. ● Access and guidance to community mental health services as needed via FRHSD.com. ● Assistance with college planning and applications via email and Naviance. ● Review scholarship applications. ● Review 2020-2021 student course requests.
