The University has two campuses, one in Kleve and another in Kamp-Lintfort. Kleve, home to the Faculties of Technology and Bionics, Life Sciences and Society and Economics, is near the Dutch border. Because of its geographical location directly at the Dutch-German border, there is a strong overlap in culture and language. Kleve enjoys a long tradition as a city of culture, art, and history. From visiting the Swans Castle to relaxing activities, from sports to museums and shops, Kleve has something for everyone, including great nightlife. Kamp-Lintfort, home to the Faculty of Communication and Environment, is a mining town, and mining has helped to shape the character of this city. In the last several years, Kamp-Lintfort has seen a shift to a more modernized economy; however, there is still a strong connection to the past, the Kamp Abbey. The Archbishop of Cologne, Friedrich I, founded the abbey in 1123. It was built for an order of monks, the Cistercians, as one of their first structures in the area. With such an interesting past, it is easy to overlook all the modern amenities that Kamp-Lintfort has to offer! This town has an eighteen-hole golf course, water parks, cycling trails, an adventure playground, and a beautiful lake. The University Since its founding on May 1, 2009, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences has grown beyond all expectations. Students at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences receive a first-rate, internationally accredited education, and they get two brand-new campuses. The University also provides students with support both in and out of the classroom so that they can more easily adjust to student life and life in Germany in general. Academics Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences currently offers 25 undergraduate degree programs and ten graduate programs across four faculties and two campuses: the Faculties of Technology and Bionics, Life Sciences and Society and Economics in Kleve, and the Faculty of Communication and Environment in Kamp-Lintfort. Over 80 percent of the degree programs are taught exclusively in English. Also, most of the student body is incredibly diverse: in fact, over one third of the students come from outside of Germany, and over 100 different nationalities are represented in the University and the area. Because the University offers so many programs taught in English, many new students to Rhine-Waal don’t speak German. That’s why the University offers German language courses for all levels at our two campus Language Centres.
