Director of Advancement

Job description:

The Director of Advancement is responsible for the oversight, planning and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising program that secures significant financial resources to support the school’s mission and vision. The Director of Advancement is also accountable for providing strategic leadership, and the activities associated with the design, organization, implementation, and evaluation of all aspects of individual and corporate giving, corporate partnerships and sponsorships, planned giving, grants, and special events.

Main responsibilities:

 Fundraising o Coordinate all fundraising activities with a primary focus on major gifts.  Director of Old Boy Relations o Supervise the organizing of 11 annual Old Boys’ Reunions across Canada and the United States, where attendance is required. o Supervise special events in – over 60 athletic, arts, and professional development events and attend about 50% of them. o Organize and attend all the Selwyn House Old Boys’ Board of Directors and act as secretary.  Database & Software responsibilities o Responsible for the school’s fundraising database, Raiser’s Edge NXT, as well as several other online subscription databases for individual and corporate donor database such as Graduway, iWave, and Foundation Search.  Other responsibilities o Advancement budget management o Attend Selwyn House Association board meetings each month. o Assistant Secretary for The Veritas Fund – the fund that manages and invests the school’s donations.

Desired qualifications:

 A minimum of 7 years professional fundraising experience  Proven experience in the following: o organizing all aspects of capital and/or endowment campaigns as well as the participation in the solicitation of major gifts. o the solicitation of gifts from foundations and corporations o in designing and managing advancement and alumni relations.  Experience with developing and maintaining productive working relationships with board members, alumni, parents, administrators and faculty.  Excellent written English, as well as verbal and communication skills. French is an asset.  Ability to travel and attend events.  Ability to work as a leader and as part of a team.
