(Continued from page 1A) in Oklahoma. Last session, a similar case, Sharp v. Murphy appeared before the court to ask whether the territorial boundaries of the Creek Nation established in 1833 still stood. In a rare move, the justices failed to come to a decision on the case, likely reaching a tie due to the recusal of Gorsuch, who had heard the case while serving on a lower court. In withholding a ruling on Sharp v. Murphy, the court also decided it would take up the McGirt case, which raised many of the same issues and could be voted on by all nine justices. The decision in Sharp was released Thursday along with the McGirt opinions, say- ing that for the same reasons stated in McGirt, the decision in the 10th Circuit Court in favor of tribal jurisdiction was upheld. City Chiefs gave their quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, a 12-year extension worth between $477 million and $503 million. Overthecap.com has calculated Mahomes’ extension to be worth $45,000,000 annually dwarf- ing the Cowboys’ prior offer to Prescott. Now, it doesn’t seem likely that Prescott will get Mahomes money. After all, Mahomes has both an MVP award and Super Bowl victory; neither of which Prescott has. However, Prescott is no slouch as he has been named a Pro Bowler twice (2016 and 2018). Prescott has also not missed any of the 64 regular season games he’s been eligible to play since his rookie season of 2016. Additionally, he started all 64 games and holds a 40-24 record, which is good for a .625 winning percentage. At this point, the onus is on the Cowboys to figure out an extension sometime in the next 12 months for Prescott or watch him walk and get paid by someone else. If we’re back at this same spot ahead of the 2021 season, there is no reason to think that Dak will find a new home. And in all likelihood, his new contract will far exceed the 3 years, $84 million guaranteed Kirk Cousins got from the Minnesota Vikings in 2018. At that point, will start over with some other free agent who will probably be a retread or an untested rookie. Frankly, neither path inspires for America’s Team.

Using a mild detergent mixed with warm water helps to keeps your hull looking clean without damaging the gel coat surface. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, ammonia or chlorine. Keep the Chrome Shining Bright – Keeping the chrome elements of your boat looking shiny gives a polished look, even if your vessel is otherwise in need of a clean-up. Simply use apple cider vinegar to clean over any chrome elements, and finish off by polishing with baby oil for a high shine. Microfiber Towel Magic – One of the key things to consider when cleaning the outside of your boat is that you don’t want to use anything which will leave scratches. Using a microfiber towel is a gentle and effective way to clean your boat. They can help buff, remove excess cleaner and wax, and help to take the grime off of your boat. Keep some handy at all times, as they’re of course also helpful for getting rid of spills or stain inside too. Clean Your Vinyl Seats and Upholstery – The seats in your boat are made to withstand quite a lot! They are made of marine grade vinyl known for its properties to withstand damp and grimy environments. However, keeping them in great condition still requires regular care. If you have stains which just aren’t with regular cleaner, try a Magic Eraser. Simply wet one of the pads and scrub gently at the surface of your seats, and then follow up by wiping the areas with a clean, damp cloth. Keep Mold at Bay – With your boat always being around water, it’s not unusual for fabrics to become musty or moldy, but white vinegar can be your best friend! A great, cheap alternative to bleach or chemicals, it works well for both cleaning the interior and fabrics of your boat. The real key to keeping your boat clean is regular upkeep. While it can feel like trying to ‘turn back the tide’ to keep barnacles, stains and mildew at bay, regular detailing does reap huge rewards.

A History Lesson: A Brief History of Lake Texoma

By Shalene White The Madill Record

Lake Texoma sits on the Texas-Oklahoma state line, and is one of the largest reservoirs in the United States, the 12th largest U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ lake and the largest USACE in the Tulsa District. The massive lake was impounded in 1944. Meaning, the Red River was dammed up to assist with flood control, and Lake Texoma was created from that. It is a man-made lake built by the USACE. There is no lake frontage private property ownership because the USACE owns and controls the lake. This leads to the ability to keep a pristine shoreline zone around the entirety of the lake and lends to a great fishing experience. Lake Texoma consists of over 90,000 acres, with 80 percent of the lake located in Oklahoma. The maximum depth of the lake is over 110 feet. It was originally stocked with Striped Bass from 1969 to 1974, and the lake’s multiple islands, river edges, and underwater structures attract and keep numerous Striped Bass and Sand Bass. Since the five-year span of stocking the lake, the fish have thrived and have been able to naturally reproduce. The 10-fish limit per person was probably a major player in that.
