Meanwhile, Jasmine Sefas Jones won for Outstanding Actress in a Short Comedy or Drama Series for her role as Taya in #FreeRayshawn. After his victory Ron Sefas Jones spoke at the Press Room Emmys (via EW), but he didn't say much about himself. He mostly expressed pride in his daughter is moving up and progressing in her career: As a parent, this is the most fulfilling thing I've ever felt. I mean, winning another Emmy is the icing on the cake, but to see my daughter progress and move to this place where she won an Emmy is beyond words. Jasmine Cephas Jones has since taken to social media to react to the wins, and the up-and-coming actress will sum things up perfectly: - Jasmine Cephas Jones (@JasCephasJones) September 20, 2020 One can only imagine how both actors feel after performing a historical feat. Brea Wardlaw Meigs Academic Magnet Middle School • Title: Actress • Job Description: An actor is a person who portrays a character in a performance (also actress; see below).[1] The actor performs "in the flesh" in the traditional medium of the theatre or in modern media such as film, radio, and television. The analogous Greek term is ὑποκριτής (hupokritḗs), literally "one who answers".[2] The actor's interpretation of their role—the art of acting—pertains to the role played, whether based on a real person or fictional character.* *Source: en.m.wikipedia.org • Why would I like to have this job? I’d like to be an actress because I LOVE to act. It’s fun because I can get to be a different person. It’s like being your own alter ego. I feel happy and powerful when I’m acting. The best thing about it is getting to tell a story in your own way, by acting the words you say (haha that rhymes!) What makes a good actress? To be a good actor/actress, you have to feel the part to be the part. And you have to be passionate about the role you are playing. Having chemistry and getting along with the other cast members is also a very important part of acting. A good actor/actress also needs to step out of his or her comfort zone, every once in a while so they can embrace themselves. Are you a good actress? I feel like I am. I feel like I have all of the right traits and abilities and the right personality.

Note: This show periodically replaces their ad breaks with new promotional clips. Because of this, both the transcription for the clips and the timestamps after them may be inaccurate at the time of viewing this transcript. 00:00:00 Music Music Tense, quiet music. 00:00:02 Ben Harrison Host Remember when the hottest political potato was adjudicating the morality of drone warfare? I mean, it’s almost quaint to think about now, but drone warfare was a major controversy until the public decided we had bigger fish to fry. Armed drones were first used in late 2001, and deployed from bases in Pakistan and Uzbekistan to assassinate terrorist leaders inside Afghanistan, before our nation turned its lonely eyes in the sky to Iraq. By 2009, the CIA claimed to have killed more than half of their most wanted Al Qaeda suspects using UAVs. In 2013, in the first public death toll provided by the US government for UAVs, walking corporate lobbying opportunity in a senator suit Lindsey Graham claimed there had been 4,700 casualties at the hands of UAVs. It is an astounding number. And that was 6 years ago! The government isn’t inclined to update us, so who knows the number at this point? 00:00:59 Ben Host We are told that the use of drones saves lives, and by removing American soldiers from the battlefield, it’s hard to argue that it doesn’t at least save the lives of frontline American soldiers. But while we can keep soldiers out of physical harm’s way, we cannot remove them from the battle, or from making battlefield decisions.

  • Formulating Empathy in Vince Gilligan's Breaking Bad Abby Bentham
Art or Science? Formulating Empathy in Vince Gilligan's Breaking Bad Abby Bentham Abstract When Vince Gilligan pitched the idea for Breaking Bad to studio bosses at the AMC media network, his description of it as ‘a story about a man who transforms himself from Mr. Chips into Scarface’ proved to be enough of a hook to take the show into production. However, whilst this transformation is indeed breath-taking, perhaps the most fascinating thing about the series has been its attempt to manipulate viewers’ emotions. As the show opens, the locus of empathy is Walter White; a terminally ill high school chemistry teacher desperate to provide financially for his disabled, teenaged son and unexpectedly pregnant wife. However, as the narrative arc develops, Walter undergoes a dramatic transformation. His shift from shambling underdog to drug lord poses interesting moral questions which increasingly act as a barrier to empathy and identification with the character. My chapter charts the evolution of Walter White and the characters around him, exploring how their representation in the show affects and manipulates viewer identification through shifts between sympathy, empathy and antipathy. I consider Walter’s characterisation in the context of the other male characters in Breaking Bad and reflect on why such development is denied to the show’s unremittingly negative female characters. Key Words: Empathy, Breaking Bad, Walter White, morality, evil, hero, villain, misogyny, masculinity. ***** 1. The Art of Empathy In the pilot episode of Breaking Bad, Walter White (Bryan Cranston) tells his students: ‘Technically, chemistry is the study of matter, but I prefer to see it as the study of change ..
