Furthermore, Shiseido will promote further collaboration with suppliers to ensure the stable supply of raw materials and containers necessary for production, and aim to establish a stable production system in the medium to long term. Features of Nasu Factory The Nasu Factory serves as a manufacturing facility for medium-to-high-priced skincare products such as ELIXIR for Japan and overseas markets. In accordance with the international standard ISO 22716, the factory is designed and fully equipped to realize “high quality”, which is Shiseido’s strength, and offers a work environment where people supporting in delivering the high quality can work comfortably and grow further. Meanwhile, the Nasu Factory aims to act not just as a factory but as a communication base for Shiseido and its brands together with the people in the neighborhood. 1. NEWS RELEASE December 6, 2019 NII start operation 400 Gbps Tokyo-Osaka link to speed up SINET, ultra-high speed network supporting Japan’s academic research: Putting world-leading long-distance 400 Gbps link into practical operation The National Institute of Informatics (NII, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; Dr. Masaru KITSUREGAWA, Director General) has constructed a long-distance link with a world’s top-class transmission speed of 400 Gbps between Tokyo and Osaka as part of an academic information network, SINET5(*1). The existing SINET5 provides 100 Gbps links covering all of Japan’s prefectures. The new link has a capacity four times that of existing links. It will come into service on December 9. The purpose of constructing this 400 Gbps link is to increase the transmission capacity between the Kanto area centering on Tokyo and the Kansai area centering on Osaka and thereby to resolve the tight capacity situation amid soaring demand for data communication between the two regions where universities, research organizations, and other entities are concentrated. This implementation removes the issue about network resources being occupied by high-volume data communication and ensures stable communication. The updated infrastructure meets demands for further data increases and new high-volume data transmissions in inter-university collaborations and large research projects. Osaka---A Gastronomic Wonderland Osaka is said to be a culinary capital. Reading Japanese Cooking: A Simple Art, written by Shizuo Tsuji, founder of the Tsuji Culinary Institute, the British food journalist Michael Booth was amazed to learn that concepts currently in vogue in contemporary Western-style cooking, such as simplicity, letting the ingredients speak for themselves, and seasonal food, had been talked about so vividly in a book introducing Japanese cuisine written back in 1980. As a result of reading Tsuji’s book, Booth became profoundly interested in Japanese food and decided to make a three-month “foodie road trip” across Japan together with his family. He describes his experiences on that tour in a book titled Sushi and Beyond: What the Japanese Know about Cooking. In that book, Booth writes about food in Osaka. He notes that the respected French restaurant critic Francois Simon told him that Osaka was “his favorite food city in the world” and adds that “I have seen it [Osaka] name-checked in several interviews with top European and US chefs as a place they visit for inspiration.” The book goes on to describe how Booth himself relished his visit to the city, going not only to high-class restaurants but also okonomiyaki, kushikatsu, and other eateries frequented by ordinary folk. After reading Booth’s book, I smacked my lips and knew there was only one place to go---Osaka! IHCSA Café International Hospitality and Conference Service Association (IHCSA) Okonomiyaki (savory pancakes) The origin of okonomiyaki apparently goes way back to the Azuchi-Momoyama period (1568–1600), when the tea master Sen no Rikyu served similar confectionery at tea ceremonies.

Its railway operations encompass 18 prefectures in the western half of Japan’s Sanyo Shinkansen main island of Honshu and the northern tip of Kyushu, covering a total service area of approximately 104,000 square kilometers. Other Conventional Lines The service area has a population of approximately 43 million people, equivalent to 34% of the population of Japan. The railway network comprises a total of 1,222 railway stations, with an operating route length of 5,015.7 kilometers, almost 20% of passenger railway kilometerage in Japan. This network includes the Sanyo Kansai Urban Area Shinkansen, a high-speed intercity railway line; the Kansai Urban (including the Urban Network) Area, serving the Kyoto–Osaka–Kobe metropolitan area; and other conventional railway lines (excluding the three JR-West branch offices in Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe). The Sanyo Shinkansen is a high-speed intercity to the major stations of the Sanyo Shinkansen passenger service between Shin-Osaka Station in Line, such as Okayama, Hiroshima, and Hakata, Osaka and Hakata Station in Fukuoka in northern without changing trains. These services are Kyushu. The line runs through several major cities enabled by direct services with the services of Sanyo in western Japan, including Kobe, Okayama, the Tokaido Shinkansen Line, which Central Shinkansen Hiroshima, and Kitakyushu.
