24 Family Digital Allerton 6166 Collection of material to do with the family Allerton. Allerton/Stevenson family tree. Photo Gordon Allerton after he had joined the Navy in 1914. This would probably have been taken in Lowestoft. Gordon was one of fifteen children and had 6 brothers, 5 of whom joined the Navy at the same time. Somehow word reached the King and his private secretary sent a letter on the King's behalf praising the family. All 6 sons survived the war. An important aspect running throughout is that the continuation of Methodism depends chiefly on its people rather than its buildings, and on enthusiasm and dedication rather than strict adherence to forms of worship and ecclesiastical dogma. What could best be described as anarchy may conceivably result from recognition of the equal status of all believers in the eyes of God, thus there must be a framework of authority to ensure that order is maintained. Breakaway movements depend heavily on the charisma of their leadership. All of the above considerations apply in some degree to the formation and subsequent re-absorption of the several streams of Methodism traced in the articles we here publish. The Wesley Historical Society is ever conscious of the necessity to assemble historical information before the people who are conversant with it pass on from this present stage. To this end Journal 77 concentrates on the breakaway streams of Methodism that made such a positive contribution to the promotion of Christianity in New Zealand that it demands to be recorded in readily accessible form. -

The presentation of all monitoring features into these catchment maps will assist in developing an integrated approach to catchment management and operation. The water quality monitoring maps and index were originally incorporated into the Catchment Action Plans. They provide a visual presentation of monitored sites within a catchment and enable water quality data to be accessed easily by all departments and external organisations. The maps bring together information from different sections within Water Quality. The routine river monitoring and tidal water monitoring points, the licensed waste disposal sites and the monitored effluent discharges (pic, non-plc, fish farms, COPA Variation Order [non-plc and pic]) are plotted. The type of discharge is identified such as sewage effluent, dairy factory, etc. Additionally, river impact and control sites are indicated for significant effluent discharges. If the watercourse is not sampled then the location symbol is qualified by (*). Was deferred from last meeting. Plans discussed. Chairman had email from architect – email read through by Chairman asking for support on this application. Architect had spoken to the planning officer and doesn’t agree with their objections. Felt it would be a home designed for long term Kilkhampton residents and for them and their family to enjoy on land that they own. Happy to attend any future meetings. The planning officer also spoke to Chairman and the local authority has stated it does not comply with policy 3 (infill/rounding off) nor does it comply with policy 7 (i.e. not an existing barn, conversion of building etc – is a new building in the countryside) They are therefore refusing the application. Chairman stated it is now down to our discussion. TC feels we should state the same as the Planning Officer. Could potentially cater for larger sites and future buildings being added. Chairman and all agreed with this. -

Many people were involved in the project. From Cornwall County Council were Peter Lugg (PT&E Area Supervisor, Penzance), Adrian Drake (PT&E, Maintenance Consultancy, Area Surveyor), Veryan Heal (Historic Environment Advice Manager), as well as Dick Cole, the archaeologist with the HES who monitored the final restoration of the cross. Tony and Ann Jenkin of Trewern rescued the cross fragments and provided the pieces with a temporary home. The actual repair was carried out by Adrian Thomas and David Cutting, with Geoff Hoad’s digger. Access over adjoining land was with the help of W illiam John Thomas. W ithin the Historic Environment Service, the Project Manager was Ann Preston-Jones. The work was undertaken as part of the Scheduled Monument Management Team’s ‘Conserving Cornwall’s Past’ project: a project funded jointly by English Heritage, the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Cornwall Heritage Trust, Cornwall County Council and other partners. -

Ludgvan Neighbourhood Plan Local Evidence Report January 2018 Introduction Neighbourhood planning policy and proposals need to be based on a proper understanding of the place they relate to, if it they are to be relevant, realistic and to address local issues effectively. It is important that our Neighbourhood Plan is based on robust information and analysis of the local area; this is called the evidence base. Unless policy is based on firm evidence and proper community engagement, then it is more likely to reflect the assumptions and prejudices of those writing it than to reflect the needs of the wider area and community. This Local Evidence Report presents a topic by topic picture in facts, local opinions and aspirations of what the Parish of Ludgvan is all about in 2017/18, so as to provide the ‘evidence’ on which to base the development of the Ludgvan Neighbourhood Plan. We have used a variety of authoritative sources and recent survey material to put this Report together. To keep it relevant and accessible we have summarised information. Should the reader want more information or background we have provided links wherever possible to the source document. Inevitably we have not found all the information we sought. You are invited to contribute additional material to our evidence base.
