6 BLUE RAIDER BASKETBALL Hit the Recruiting Road Running > • Head Coach Nick McDevitt and his new staff faced a tough task already knowing that they had to replace 2018 graduates Nick King, Giddy Potts, Ed Simpson and Brandon Walters, but five more departures in the offseason left the roster short and the list of needs long to force them onto the recruiting trail early and often in their first summer in Murfreesboro • It didn't take long for the first piece to fall into place for McDevitt and his staff as they landed high level Missouri State transfer Reggie Scurry on April 23, 2018 in hopes of appealing for immediate eligibility for the Georgia native after suffering a season-ending foot injury during a cryotherapy treatment while with the Bears • The Blue Raiders soon added fellow Division I transfers C.J. Jones (Arkansas) and DeAndre Dishman (Eastern Kentucky), both of whom must sit out the 2018-19 sea- son, and junior college transfer Darnell Butler (Seminole State College) • McDevitt's first recruiting class was rounded out with a trio of freshman in Michigan prep standout Anthony Crump, Canadian point guard Junior Farquhar and Buffalo, N.Y., native and former Wagner football signee Jayce Johnson
