“Puffin” App for iPad, iPhone, iPod & Android Phones, Tablets Puffin is a mobile App available from the App Store (Apple) and Google Play Store (Android). It is a Web Browser that allows viewing of websites that use Flash. As of January 2015 there is a free version that supports Adobe Flash for free to use all day, 7 days a week. There is also the paid version, but we find the free version is working fine. 2017-02-24 To get the “Puffin” App, you need to go to the App Store(Ipad/Iphone) or Google Play (Android Tablet/Phones) and download it. 1. Go to the “App Store” or “Google Play” on your mobile device (iPad, iPhone, iPod) ( Android Phone or Tablet) 2. Search for the “Puffin” App FREE There may be several Apps that come up in the search. Use the one called “Puffin Web Browser Free”. Click on the button “Free” to download the App. 2017-02-24 3. When the App is finished downloading, open it. If you are prompted to pick a viewing option, please choose desktop site view. This will give you mouse control which is needed for some lessons. 4. A few advertisement screen may appear similar to the image shown below, click next to move to the end of the message to complete the install: 5. Type in the website address for the Learning Hub, www.learninghub.ca. Press Enter. Select your learning platform on the login page. You will need to allow Pop Up messages for your lessons to work properly. Instructions for setting your pop up settings are below. 2017-02-24 Pop Up Setting IPod/IPad/IPhone settings Android Tablet/Phone settings Click the bars on the Settings Toolbar Click 3 dots on Settings Toolbar (top right) Puffin Browser Settings Puffin Browser Settings Select the Gear icon to go to your Settings to set the Pop-up Blocker setting to Allow. Settings Set Pop-ups to Allow. Turn Pop-up to Allow Puffin IOS Version 5.2.0 Puffin Android Version 6.0.7.15747 (Version type found at the bottom of this Settings Menu) 2017-02-24 Using Mouse or Trackpad tools Most lessons allow you to touch your screen to answer questions and move through the lesson but occassionally you may need to use the mouse or trackpad tools to complete an activity. If you don’t see these icons at the bottom of your screen you can find them on the menu list. For i devices use the 3 bars; for android devices you the 3 dots at the top right of the window. When you select the mouse icon you will get a tutorial on how to use the mouse and then will be asked to chose whether you want to use the mouse or trackpad tool. Both work well in the lessons. Mouse tips: Use your finger to move the mouse pointer arrow and tap to select. A long press and hold changes the pointer arrow to a hand which allows you to drag and drop A long press and release around the cursor will act like a right-click to bring up menu options Trackpad tips: Use one finger in the trackpad box to move the mouse pointer arrow, tap to select. Use two fingers to change the pointer arrow to a hand which allows you to drag and drop Swiping along lined area of pad will act as scroll 2017-02-24 .
