Evening on Day 1 had the delightful Breeze entertain us with her beauti- ful voice, many have asked if we can have her back for the next Festival. Saturday Evening Day 2 and the fabulous Kingsdon Big Band, arranged by our own Keith Thomas, entertained us. The 15 brilliant musicians were accompanied by the delightful and enchanting voice of Heather Wensley. Heather’s extensive per- forming experience ranges from five star hotels, in the Mediterranean, to jazz clubs and session work, per- forming bossa nova, soul, jazz, folk and big band swing; influenced by artists as diverse as Ella Fitzger- ald, Nina Simone and Chaka Khan. This was the 4th performance of the Kingsdon Big Band here in Kingsdon since their first performance in 2002 for the Queens Golden Jubilee. Will we see the Big Band next year? Watch this space! HE object in issuing this compendium is to bring before the notice of all interested in the subject an exact statement of all I know concerning the family, and by its absence what information I still require, for it would be very difficult to compile a satisfactory history from such meagre details as I yet possess. Whenever I write to persons likely to be able to assist me with more information their first enquiry is of course as to the extent of the facts I have gleaned and what field I have covered in my researches. Is is. thus plainly to our mutual advantage that all these facts be printed. This course also tends to preserve the refer ep.ces to where full information may be found, and in the event of my proposed history not being able to appear, which I hope will not be the case, a future author, if such should appear, will be able to commence where I have left off, and so save the overlapping inevitable in such cases. HINTON ST GEORGE CHURCH OF ENGLAND PRIMARY SCHOOL SCHOOL PROSPECTUS 2020/21 ‘Let Your Light Shine’ (Matthew 5:16) Dear Parents and Children Thank you for showing an interest in Hinton St George C of E Primary School. We are a dynamic, progressive Church of England Primary School located in the beautiful village of Hinton St George. In September 2020, the school converted from a First school to Primary school, so from September 2020 we will be increasing our age range to include year 5 children, and from September 2021, year 6. The school serves a community of families covering the rural parishes of Hinton St George, Dinnington and Lopen. The school enjoys a rural setting with all our classes based in the original Victorian school building. The grounds to the rear of the school include a well-stocked and fun playground along, an outdoor learning space for our early year’s provision and a beautiful ‘Peace Pod’ for small group work and playtimes. Our large playing field enjoys stunning views of our church and is well equipped with a range of outdoor apparatus, including a Forest School area. The children visit this regularly for playtimes, outdoor learning, Forest school and sport. The staff and governors aim to provide a happy, caring and well-organised environment in which each child feels secure and valued as an individual. We are fortunate to enjoy a high staff to pupil ratio where teaching and non-teaching staff all work together to create relaxed and pleasant surroundings. All of our children are actively encouraged to realise their full potential and to fulfil our school vision to ‘Let Your Light Shine’.

  • Somerset Rivers Authority End of Year Report 2016-17: Contents
END OF YEAR REPORT 2016-17 1 SOMERSET RIVERS AUTHORITY END OF YEAR REPORT 2016-17: CONTENTS 1. Introduction (page 2) 2. Performance Delivery: Summary (page 3), Delivery Status: By Funding Source (page 4) Finance: Summary (pages 4 to 5) 3. Progress of Works in Detail Key Projects (pages 6 to 10) SRA 2016-17 Enhanced Programme (pages 11 to 21) INTRODUCTION In 2016-17, Somerset Rivers Authority (SRA) spent just over £6million on actions designed to give Somerset an extra level of flood protection. This end of year report explains where the money came from and how it was spent. It also gives information about projects that have been delayed or had their funding moved to other activities. These details have been provided because the SRA wants people to know what it has achieved across the county – and it wants to be properly accountable. The SRA raises extra money to deliver extra work. Schemes are prioritised for SRA funding on the basis of the main objectives in Somerset’s 20 Year Flood Action Plan, which was developed in response to the floods of winter 2013-14. This report is divided into two sections. Performance covers delivery overall and by funding source, plus a table summarising 2016-17 finance; Progress gives more details about major projects, and smaller actions grouped according to SRA workstream – Dredging & River Management, Land Management, Urban Water Management, Resilient Infrastructure and Building Community Resilience. Somerset’s approach is uniquely joined-up. This report details just one year of the SRA’s extra work. For much more information about earlier years, works in progress and works coming up, visit www.somersetriversauthority.org.uk A note on Somerset Rivers Authority: The SRA is a partnership between 11 of Somerset’s existing flood risk management authorities: Somerset County Council, the five district councils, the Axe Brue and Parrett Internal Drainage Boards, the Environment Agency, Natural England and the Wessex Regional Flood & Coastal Committee.
