54 Arnencan Squaredance, June 1992 Adapted by the authors, from "The SQUARE Handbook for square dance Leaders, 2nd Edition" by Bob and Janette Kemper. Used with their permission. DANCERS e recently attended a nearby festival. WThe evening was kicked off with a AND Grand march, "Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag" and the "National Anthem". This is a fine, patriotic way. but the lack of knowledge of flag courtesy was terrible. We said nothing at the time, but later decided the problem was not local but national. Referring to my favorite reference book "The World Almanac", we find that in 1942 a Joint Congressional Resolution, amended by Public law 94-344 in 1976 codified the "rules and customs pertaining to the display and use of the flag.." that had been adopted by a conference of 68 patriotic organizations in 1923. One item in these customs is: WHEN TO SALUTE THE FLAG. All persons should face the flag, stand at attention and salute on the following oc- casions; 1. When the flag is passing in a parade or in a review. THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO 2. During the ceremony of hoisting or THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES lowering. OF AMERICA 3. Amer can Sauersdance, June 1992 79 7-Day Caribbean Cruise.....9 Dances & Workshops! If You Paid for Ham and Eggs and Only Got Eggs, Wouldn't You Feel Cheated?

How many of you have either been on or heard about a "SquareDance Cruise" where there was no dancing? Or at best...one or two dances during the week. Far too many, according to hundreds of dancers we've talked with. If you just want to go on a cruise, more than 25 different cruises leave south Florida each week!

On the other hand, if you really LOVE square dancing, then may we ENTHUSIASTICALLY suggest that you join us on our 4th Annual United Squares of America Cruise. We leave Miami on February 7,1993, for St. Thomas, San Juan and Nassau on the brand new megaliner ms Ecstasy.

The Ecstasy has more dancing space than any ship afloat, plenty of space even for a group our size. We'll have our usual scheduled daily dancing, and another dangle from some new Caribbean adventure!

If you've never cruised before, don't worry. With our toll-free number, you are welcome to call us as often as you have questions, and we'll be onboard to take care of all your needs! We want you to be part of our fun, so give us a call we would love to talk with you!
