All issues on sustainability reviewed at the Board of Directors undergo preliminary preparation and discussion in that Committee. Last year’s results demonstrated a 3.3% decrease in direct GHG emissions and almost a twofold decrease in methane emissions in Russia compared to the baseline of 2016, when the first target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions for Russian entities was set. Importantly, we managed to achieve this goal while at the same time increasing hydrocarbon production and refining volumes. The Company also implemented measures to reduce the impact of climate change in its foreign entities. For example, in 2019 the largest LUKOIL gas projects in Uzbekistan saw a drop in greenhouse gas emissions of 10.9% compared to 2018. These results were achieved due to investments in the modernization and construction of production facilities and infrastructure, as well as the implementation of targeted corporate programs. The Cyrillic name is also given along with the map page number and coordinates (latitude and longitude) where it can be found. Capitals of regions and districts (raiony) are listed along with many other settlements, but only in the vicinity of intact forest landscapes. The reader should not expect to see a city like Moscow listed. Villages that are insufficiently known or very small are not listed and appear on the map only as nameless dots. The results of scientific research, which deserve attention in terms of improving the scientific, technical, and socioeconomic processes in the Northern and Arctic territorial and economic systems (in our case, the Komi Republic), are usually presented in the form of interdisciplinary projects that generate the results of studies on socioeconomic, humanitarian, and medical and biological problems as well as on the issues of preserving the biosphere and ecosystems with simultaneous development of bioresource economy, rational use of mineral and energy resources, spatial development, and creation and use of innovative technologies. The key idea of this article is implementing the new industrialization in the Komi Republic by taking into account the results of research conducted at the institutes of Komi Scientific Centre of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The applied research of the institutes of Komi Scientific Centre is based on fundamental studies and closely connected with the practice of development and distribution of productive forces. It is focused on implementing the new paradigm of Northern policy aimed at not only the development of mineral and energy resources for external consumers but also at improvement, sustainable development, and creation of appropriate conditions for the people who put their roots in the North.

Eocene strata along the north side of Van Keulenfjorden, Svalbard, include basin-floor fan, marine slope, and deltaic to fluvial depositional facies. The age and facies of these strata are similar to Tertiary strata beneath the continental shelves of Arctic Eurasia, thus providing an analog for evaluating elements of those petroleum systems.
