Director, Academician, Professor KAYUMOV Abdulhamid Focal point on Cryosphere and Hydrology from Tajikistan in WMO, National Correspondent of the World Glacier Monitoring Service (WGMS) for the Republic of Tajikistan, Member of the Commission for Hydrology Climate and Water Department (CLW) in WMO Information about glaciers Tajikistan in the World glacier monitoring service https://wgms.ch/downloads/cp/cp_Tajikistan.pdf Stages research of Glaciers of Tajikistan:

• Till 1920 years glaciological works carried descriptive character. • 1920‐60‐years was detailed research and compiled a catalog of glaciers. • 70‐80 – years glaciers considered, as source of water for irrigation cotton fields. Scientific‐research work was for intensification melting glaciers for increase effluent of rivers. • 80‐years scientific‐research work was to research degradation glaciers. • after 90‐years scientific‐research works to glaciers was stopped. • 2018‐scientific‐research work to restart . 2018‐was restarted scientific‐research work to glaciers

The State Scientific Institution «Center for Research of Glaciers of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan» was founded by the decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan N162 from the 27 March 2018, and the resolution of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan N52, 23 April 2018. In the departments of the Center worker more than 60 stuffs : 1. Central Office; 2. Department for Monitoring of Glaciers, Cryosphere and Glaciology; 3. Department for Hydrometeorology Studies and Preserving of Glaciers, Climate Change and Adaptations; 4. Department for Expeditions and Field Research; 5.
