January 19

Good morning,

I hope this rainy weather and winter season is finding you well. It is amazing how quickly the school year has been flying by. 9 is the end of Quarter 2 and is coming up quickly, just three weeks away. I’ve included some suggestions below to help your student be successful.

This week’s newsletter includes lots of information that I hope you find helpful. There is no Monday Message video for this week.

This week’s schedule: • Monday - No school (MLK Day) • Tuesday - Normal class schedule • Wednesday - Community Connection, Advisory meetings, and high school clubs • Thursday & Friday - Normal class schedule

Student birthdays this week! • Konoha, 3rd Monday • Emily, 10th Monday • Samyra, 5th Tuesday • Dominic, 5th Tuesday • Camden, 8th Tuesday • Thomas, K Tuesday • Noelle, 6th Wednesday • Paxton, 9th Wednesday • Ruby, 10th Wednesday • Reed, 4th Thursday • Trentin, 8th Thursday • Spencer, 3rd Friday • Gadiel, 7th Friday • Della, 5th Saturday

A fun student challenge: Find the 5 oldest things in your house. This week’s challenge/game is to look through your house and find the five oldest things. Then, if possible take a picture of the items and learn a little about each one from the owner. You can also link up with your friends online and share what you have found. This is a fun way to have a scavenger hunt and learn about our family and friends in the process.

(NEW) Some reminders for your students - Here are some tip and suggestions to help your child be successful: • Make appointments for office hours help. Our model is set up for students and teachers to be able to meet 1 on 1 more frequently than in regular school. If your student is struggling with content our teachers will make it a priority to meet with them and review course material. • Give the optional ‘check ins’ another shot. In short, teachers have figured out how to better use this time. We now have the ability to meet with students 1 on 1 during this time as well using the breakout room feature. If students are on similar content, they work together and help each other learn. We would love to see some new faces as we come down the ‘home stretch’ of Quarter 2.

(NEW) Teen Art Contest - Each year libraries in Clackamas County look for help from local teens to design the Teen Summer Reading artwork. Young artists, ages 12-18, can submit their original artwork for this year’s theme: Reading Colors Your World. The winning entry will receive a $100 cash prize and be used countywide on 2021 Teen Summer Reading materials. For more information check out their website.

(NEW) Clackamas County Resources - I have linked to their website which includes a list of resources available through Clackamas County. I have also attached the information in a PDF document.
