® PRAESTOL A 3015 L Flocculating agent Product description Composition: weak anionic polyelectrolyte, high molecular weight, based on acrylamide and sodium acrylate in the form emulsion Appearance: turbid and homogeneous whitish liquid Charge type: anionic Bulk density: approx. 1.030 kg/m³ Viscosity (product): approx. 3.000 mPa*s Viscosity (1.0 % in deionized water): approx. 2.500 mPa*s Viscosity (0.3 % in deionized water): approx. 350 mPa*s Viscosity (1.0 % in tap water*): approx. 350 mPa*s Viscosity (0.3 % in tap water*): approx. 30 mPa*s pH-value (0.1 % in tap water*): approx. 7 Effective in pH-range: 3 - 8 The indicated characteristics are technical data and don’t represent any specification data. The viscosity of the product as it is not a parameter for the evaluation of efficiency. It serves only for the choice of the dosing pump. CAS-Number of the main component ("active substance"): 26100-47-0 2-Propenoic acid, ammonium salt, polymer with 2 –propenamide Range of Application and Mode of Action The product is mainly used in the flocculation of solid and colloidal particles of main minerals and hydroxides, it is indicated in the clarification of turbid water from the cleaning of raw materials from mines or from inert, such as coal, rock salt, sand, gravel and clay. It is also used in the production and processing of metals and in chemical industry. These applications determine the flocculation of particles from very fine to colloidal suspended in alkaline or neutral turbid waters, containing mainly inorganic solids. Other applications include the treatment of groundwater and surface water, and all kinds of waste water, after primary treatment with flocculants-producing hydroxides. The mode of action, in aqueous solution, is based on ion exchange between the electrical charges along the polymer chains present and the surface charges on the suspended solid particles. The surface of the particles is destabilized allowing their coagulation and sedimentation. Application and Dosage The product is used as a very dilute solution (0.1 to 0.3 %). For preparation of stock solutions (approx. 1.0%) the original product is added to water with vigorous and even stirring. The stock solution can be used after a stage of only approx 10 min. (water temperature > 35 ° C retard ripening). The solution at this point is mature and is thus ready for use. Due to the varying properties of the sludge or turbid water to be treated, the required dosages for a particular application can only be determined by carrying out laboratory tests and industrial trials. If the product is used as an accelerator of sedimentation or as a clarifying agent (in the static processes of sedimentation) are sufficient few grams per cubic meter of turbid water to be treated. Since instead of mechanical dewatering of sludge, in order to obtain high yields and waste water free of solid sediments, are necessary about 300 g/m³ of dry mud to be dehydrated. Operating Reliability and Accident Prevention Hazards Identifications: Caution! Spilled product or solution when in contact with water or moisture causes surfaces to become extremely slippery. Secure the area! Liquid product or solution can be soaked up with absorbent material such as sawdust or sand before being sewpt up and disposed of. Carefully wash away small residuals amounts from the area with a strong water jet. Discharge into the drain for subsequent biological waste effluent treatment. - 1 / 2 - Precautionary Measures: Put on personal protection equipment (suitable gloves, protective goggles, respiratory protection, if possible). The general precautionary measures that apply when handling chemicals should be observed. First Aid Measures: With eye contact, rinse with much water for a prolonged time – if ill effects occur seek medical advice. After skin contact, wash with water and soap directly and take off contaminated clothing. The product is swallowed, seek medical advice immediately. Materials of Construction: Our experience has shown that the products and solutions are non-corrosive in contact with materials used for tanks and pipes, such as fiberglass plastics, plastic-lined materials and stainless steel. Since the original product contains a part of the organic solvent, all plastic materials must be resistant to solvents. Further References: See safety data sheet Storage The product is basically sensitive to moisture, such as condensation, water droplets and humidity. Contact with water (droplets) can lead to local formation of knots and lumps. The product should therefore be stored in dry, closed containers and protected against moisture. Despite the storage in sealed packages (eg. container) is not completely excluded a possible formation of condensation. The lumps that can possibly find, are generally readily soluble by mechanical stress such as recirculating pumping and not affect the yield of the product. The product may separate after a long period of storage. After homogenization with a stirrer, air pump or you can use the product without a loss of efficiency. At lower temperatures increase the viscosity of the product: from - 10 ° C, the product can no longer be pumped. After heating and homogenisation may, however, be reused without loss of effectiveness. The storage temperature should not exceed 40 °C for long periods. Water contaminating class: 1 (self classification) Storage Stability under Correct Storage Conditions Emulsion in original packing: at least 6 months 0.5 % stock solution in tap water*: at least 4 week 0.1 % ready-to-use solution in tap water*: at least 7 days * Krefeld tap water: approx. 25 °dH (degrees of German hardness), pH-value: approx. 7, conductivity: approx. 600 μS/cm Packing Drum Container Delivered in road tankers Ashland Water Technologies All statements, information and data presented herein are believed to be accurate and reliable but are not to be taken as a guarantee, express warranty or implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, or representation, express or implied, for which seller assumes legal responsibility, and they are offered solely for your consideration, investigation and verification.
