E-ISSN 2281-4612 Academic Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies Vol 4 No 2 S2 ISSN 2281-3993 MCSER Publishing, Rome-Italy August 2015 A Summary of the Tourist Potential of Ferizaj Halil Halili PhD Candidate, Mediteran University, Faculty of Tourism, Bar, Monte Negro Email: [email protected] Doi:10.5901/ajis.2015.v4n2s2p63 Abstract Ferizaj is, without any doubts, one of the most interesting areas thanks to its wealth and natural beauties. Ferizaj has great potentials for tourism development, as a cultural one as well as to the nature and recreation. Among the potential of local tourism development are Sharri beautiful mountains, river valleys Nerodime, bifurcation, the union of two rivers etc. The different historical past has left numerous material monuments such as tumuli (cemetery) Illyrian, remains of old buildings, residencies and grave stones dating from Middle age. By building objects for tourists we would insure opening of the area and its resources towards tourists and it would valorize, in any aspect, rural, recreational, hunting, fishing, sports, village and ecological tourism. Keywords: tourist potential, Ferizaj, development of tourist sector, Bifurcation 1. Introduction Ferizaj has sufficient potential for the development of cultural, nature and recreation tourism .Among the potentials of the development of local tourism are beautiful mountains of Sharr ,the valley of the river Nerodime ,bifurcation ,the union of two rivers etc. Ferizaj, compared with its surroundings, is relatively new town. One of the most important factors from historic past to the formation of the city of Ferizaj and its economic development is the construction of the railway line (1874) and a railway station that is very important for the transportation of passengers and goods, which also influenced the changes of the view of the place, which today has been transformed into the city (http://kk.rks-gov.net/ferizaj/City- guide/History.aspx) Ferizaj has a convenient geographical and economic position. -

Е-mail: [email protected] Abstract In the paper, we talk about the newer Serbian literature of Kosovo and Metohija which deals with the problem of persecution and fleeing of people from their home places and hearths. Such poetics has been especially present during the last few decades as a proof of massive affliction. Partially colored by neo-patriotic nuances, this kind of literature has more epic qualities than lyric ones; it is more of an expression of general suffering and sorrow, than sadness over personal fate. Quiet and meditative, it is also a distinctive testimony about the suffering, which has more and more often been referred to as New Testament affliction. Some of the more significant representatives of the new poetics and canon of Kosovo and Metohija are Darinka Jevric, Radoslav Zlatanovic, Moso Odalovic, Dragomir Kostic, Blagoje Savic, and Aleksandar Lakovic. Keywords: Kosovo and Metohija; homeland; literature; persecution; distinctive poetic world. Денич С. ŠAR (SHAR) MOUNTAIN and ITS ŽUPAS in SOUTH SERBIA's KOSOVO-METOHIA REGION∗ - Geographical Position and Multiethnic Characteristics –
Šar Mountain and its župas in south Serbia's Kosovo-Metohija region 7 ŠAR (SHAR) MOUNTAIN AND ITS ŽUPAS IN SOUTH SERBIA'S KOSOVO-METOHIA REGION∗ - Geographical position and multiethnic characteristics – The geographical position of Šar Mountain and the župas of Gora, Opolje, Sredska and Sirinić Šar Mountain is a vast and complex morphotectonic structure stretching between the south part of the Kosovo basin, the Crnoljeva and Crna Gora Mountains (Skopska Crna Gora and Kumanovo-Preševo Karadrag), the Tetovo (Gornji Polog and Donji Polog) and Metohia-Prizren basins, Mt. Korab (2,764m), Koritnik and the Ljuma region in northeast Albania. Šar Mountain marks the beginning of a separate morphotectonic massif of the Dinaric Alps, known in classical geological and geomorphological literature as the Shar-Pindus mountain system. Its tectonic lines and ranges curve from the south-north direction to southwest-northeast, looming over a deep tectonic depression between the Zeta-Skadar-Medovo littoral and the Metohia-Prizren basin in the Beli Drim river valley, just as on the opposite, northwest side, the Dinaric Alps in the area of the Komovo, Mokra and Prokletija mountains swing over the Zeta plain, the Drim and Metohia from the dominant "Dinaric direction" of northwest-southeast to the "Metohia direction" of southwest-northeast. This creates "the most important transversal valley of the western half of Šar Mountain through which used to run the Zeta Road, the ancient Via de Zenta, the chief transversal route of the Nemanjić state "between the Dinaric and the Šar-Pindus mountain systems, with influences and functions that helped towards diversification of the ethnographic and historical development of the population."1 ∗ D.Sc. -
REGIONAL HERITAGE PLAN EAST 2015 - 2018 Regional Heritage Plan East 2015 - 2018
REGIONAL HERITAGE PLAN EAST 2015 - 2018 Regional Heritage Plan East 2015 - 2018 MAY 2015 Prishtinë/Priština This document was produced within the framework of the Joint Project EU/CoE “Support to the Promotion of Cultural Diversity in Kosovo”. The content does not necessarily represent the official position of the European Union and/or the Council of Europe. Foreword Communities around the globe are increasingly seeking ways to become more active in local governance and have a say on the management of their local resources. Democratic participation with an inclusive approach to all, ensuring the right to practice one’s own cul- ture, is essential to wellbeing of communities where multiple identities and diversity are considered important assets. Heritage, as one of the foundations of contemporary life, plays a crucial role in local eco- nomic development as responsible care and management of heritage resources could offer opportunities for communities. The European Union/Council of Europe Joint Project - Sup- port to the Promotion of Cultural Diversity in Kosovo* (PCDK) has been very innovative in engaging local communities with their heritage, while developing locally appropriate meth- odologies and programmes, based on agreed standards. With its integrated approach to heritage and diversity, this Heritage Plan brings together the distinguished elements of the communities in a regional framework. Besides the well- known heritage assets, it tries to bring the intangible aspects of contemporary community life and ties the diverse ways in which heritage plays a role. The participatory nature of the development of the Heritage Plan encouraged local actors to play an increasingly important role at an early stage and planning for its future. -

ABDUCTIONS AND DISAPPEARANCES OF NON-ALBANIANS IN KOSOVO 24 March 1999 – 31 December 2000 1 2 At least 932 non-Albanians disappeared or were abducted in the period from the deployment of the international peacekeeping force (KFOR) in Kosovo on 12 June 1999 up to 31 December 2000. Field research by the Humanitarian Law Center (HLC) brought out that Serbs, Roma, Montenegrins and Bosniacs went missing on a daily basis from 12 June to 1 September 1999, in which period 835 non-Albanians were abducted or disappeared. The whereabouts of 593 remain unknown. The Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) released 141 persons, 24 were able to escape from KLA prisons, 13 were set free by KFOR, and 62 were killed after being abducted. The missing persons are mainly civilians. Of the 593 non-Albanian missing registered by the HLC, 257 were taken by KLA members or individuals acting in its name and all trace of them was subsequently lost, while 336 disappeared in unclear circumstances. The greatest number of disappearances was registered in cities and towns in which there was no violence on a larger scale by Serbian forces against ethnic Albanians during the NATO bombing. In the period from 12 June to 1 September 1999, 121 non-Albanians disappeared in Prizren: 51 were taken by KLA members and their whereabouts remain unknown; 42 disappeared in unclear circumstances; five were killed after being taken; and 23 were released by the KLA or through the intervention of KFOR.
