Edited by ALI USMAN QASMI and MEGAN EATON ROBB. pp. vii, . Delhi, Cambridge University Press, . doi:./S One of the great developments of the last ten years of British rule in India was the transformation of the position of the All-India Muslim League. Yet, in the elections of – it won about per cent of the Muslim vote, winning out of seats in the central and provincial legislatures, a result which meant that the British and the Indian National Congress had to take seriously the League’s demand for the creation of Pakistan at independence, a demand which it had formally voiced in March . With the creation of Pakistan in , which was also the formation of the most populous Muslim nation in the world at the time, the narrative of how some Muslims, mainly from the old Mughal service class of northern India, began a movement for the reassertion and protection of their interests in the nineteenth century which ended up as the foundation of a separate Muslim state in the twentieth century, was the dominant Muslim story of British India.

During the year under report, three major projects, namely e-Shodh Sindhu, NIRF and ICSSR Data Repository were awarded to the INFLIBNET Centre. It is indeed a matter of pride and privilege that the task of operating and executing the e-ShodhSindhu: Consortium for Higher Education e- Resources (CHEERs), formed by merging three existing national-level consortia namely, UGC-Infonet Digital Library Consortium, INDEST-AICTE Consortium and N-LIST is assigned to the INFLIBNET Centre. The process of negotiation of rates of subscription for all existing e-resources subscribed by the three consortia individually for the member institutions was carried out soon after the release of notification on formation of unified consortium. It was indeed a herculean task to negotiate rates of subscription for more than 40 e-resources catering to the diverse needs of various categories of institutions, i.e.

  • Determinants of Religious Tourism: an Empirical Investigation
Journal of Business Studies, Vol. XL, No. 3, December 2019 Determinants of Religious Tourism: An Empirical Investigation Prosanjit Saha* Biplab Roy** Abstract: Religious tourism presumably the oldest form of tourism in which the tourists search for tranquility and sacred experience. Despite having promising faith centers in different parts of Bangladesh, religious tourism receives little research attention. Owing to inadequate understanding and precise portrayal of religious tourism’s products, domestic travelers often exclude religious attractions out of their usual year round itinerary. This study aims to identify major determinants for developing religious tourism in a credible way to the travelers. Through snowball sampling, 100 respondents who visited at least once to any religious sites was surveyed face to face. Descriptive statistics portrayed the demographic profile of the respondents and Regression analysis explored the influence of each determinant. The results make contribution by suggesting that unique branding and communicating religious values through social media promotion determine the success of religious tourism. Moreover, the study offered some managerial implications to develop Bangladesh as an attractive religious tourism hub. Keywords: Religious Tourism, Unique and consistent branding, interpreting religious values, sustainable policies, innovative promotion. Introduction Tourism is now considered as one of the most dominant sectors in the world consisting multifarious forms and diverse nature. One of the most sensible and prevalent forms of tourism is religious tourism. It can be defined as travel with the core motive of experiencing religious forms, or the products they induce, like art, culture, traditions and architecture. According to the Ministry of Tourism of Brazil (MTUR) (2010), “Religious Tourism is the set of tourism activities arising from the spiritual quest and religious practice in places and in events related to institutional religions, regardless of creed or ethnic origin”.

  • Behind the Veil:An Analytical Study of Political Domination of Mughal Women Dr
11 Behind The Veil:An Analytical study of political Domination of Mughal women Dr. Rukhsana Iftikhar * Abstract In fifteen and sixteen centuries Indian women were usually banished from public or political activity due to the patriarchal structure of Indian society. But it was evident through non government arenas that women managed the state affairs like male sovereigns. This paper explores the construction of bourgeois ideology as an alternate voice with in patriarchy, the inscription of subaltern female body as a metonymic text of conspiracy and treachery. The narratives suggested the complicity between public and private subaltern conduct and inclination – the only difference in the case of harem or Zannaha, being a great degree of oppression and feminine self –censure. The gradual discarding of the veil (in the case of Razia Sultana and Nur Jahan in Middle Ages it was equivalents to a great achievement in harem of Eastern society). Although a little part, a pinch of salt in flour but this political interest of Mughal women indicates the start of destroying the patriarchy imposed distinction of public and private upon which western proto feminism constructed itself. Mughal rule in India had blessed with many brilliant and important aspects that still are shining in the history. They left great personalities that strengthen the history of Hindustan as compare to the histories of other nations. In these great personalities there is a class who indirectly or sometime directly influenced the Mughal politics. This class is related to the Mughal Harem. The ladies of Royalty enjoyed an exalted position in the Mughal court and politics.
