By now, you may have heard that the International Department will offer two contingent trips in 2020, but you may not have heard about some of the updates we are making to the process of organizing these trips. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Over the past couple months, we’ve spent a lot of time researching, analyzing, and most importantly, reviewing feedback from our participants, and there are some excellent things headed your way ... here are some of the main points: — We’re trying to make these contingent trips as inclusive and i approachable as possible. Our goal moving forward will be to recruit Scouts and leaders from across the country to fill our contingents and represent the BSA at worldwide events. — Using feedback from our most recent contingent trip, it was very clear that we need to do a better job getting the word out. We’ll be utilizing social media and other channels to get maximum exposure. Stay tuned for “marketing toolboxes” that you’ll be able to utilize when helping us spread the word. — If you have a Facebook account and have not yet liked our Facebook page, you should! We’re starting a promotional campaign using testimonials from world event participants and each month we’ll be featuring at least one person and sending them a swag bag. You can find us on Facebook AND Instagram by searching International.BSA within the search bar in both apps or by searching for [email protected] or [email protected] in your internet browser. — We’ve updated the Contingent Leader Application and job description to better clarify what we are looking for in regard to Contingent Management Teams for future contingents. Check below for a link to the new form! — We’re listening to feedback from participants and working toward making the contingent trips as affordable as possible. Also, we’ll be working to become more transparent in regard to what trips cost and what you’re getting. INTERNATIONAL CONTINGENTS AND MORE! NEW FORMS AND RESOURCES Interested in being on the Contingent Management Team (CMT) for upcoming trips? All those interested in filling a role as CMT for upcoming contingent trips must apply. • Time Extension for Completing Eagle Rank Requirement Due to COVID-19
Time Extension for completing Eagle rank requirement due to COVID-19 The Boy Scouts of America has approved two big temporary changes to advancement rules, in response to difficulties arising from the COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus. First: effectively immediately through September 30, 2020, local councils have the authority to grant extensions for Scouts to complete requirements for the ranks of Eagle Scout or Quartermaster, or the Venturing Summit Award. However, these local council extensions may only be granted if COVID-19 disruptions are the reason the Scout needs extra time to complete these requirements. To be clear, this extension would grant time to complete specific requirements impacted by COVID-19 disruptions – like completing the Eagle service project. Scouts BSA members must already hold the Life Scout rank in order to qualify for this specific extension. Second: now through September 30, 2020, BSA will accept electronic or digital signatures for youth applicants and unit approvals on these award applications. This includes printing out the application document, signing it with a pen, scanning/taking a picture, and sending via email or other appropriate communication platform to the next person for signature. To request an extension that would give a Scout more time to complete Eagle requirements, please: 1) complete the BSA form 11.2.0.0 “Request for Extension of Time to Earn Eagle Scout Rank” • Make sure you enter the board of review date when you earned the Life rank • In the field titled, “Please provide a brief summary of

Order of the Arrow Yokahú Lodge 506 Puerto Rico Council 661 The History and Legacy of Yokahú 506 Lodge Compiled and edited by: Carlos E. Calzada Preston Page | 1 Acknowledgments and Dedication History is an ever-expanding field that grows with every passing event and action. I thank all those who have helped me in the creation of the Yokahú 506 History Book. I particularly want to thank and acknowledge the effort and support that Mr. Luis Machuca has given me, through his counseling, encouragement and sharing the personal information he has recollected throughout his life. Moreover, Mr. Luis Machuca not only allowed transcript information from his book “La Filosofía del Escutismo y su Presencia en Puerto Rico 1910-2010”, he personally translated the text related to the Order of the Arrow. I would also like to extend my appreciation to Mr. Carlos Acevedo and Mr. Carlos “Pucho” Gandía, who allowed use of personal photographs, documents and provided additional insight through his many anecdotes. Finally, I would like to thank my father, Enrique Calzada, for all the support and help he has given me. I couldn’t have done this without you. It is through the actions of those who work to preserve and educate others about the past that we can move without hesitation into the future. Thus, I dedicate this compilation of historical facts to Mr. Luis Machuca and all those who, throughout the years, have dedicated themselves passionately to researching and preserving our Lodge’s rich history. To all of you, an eternal Thank You! from all of us who can now enjoy reading and learning from your works.

This guide is intended to support the unit camping program by providing leaders with a directory of nearby campgrounds. The guide is organized into three sections. Section I lists public campgrounds in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Section II covers campgrounds administered by the Boy Scouts of America in Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. Section III provides a place for leaders to record their favorite campgrounds for future reference.
