Since opening its doors on April 15, 1958, the largest hotel in the city of has owned a special place in the heart of Montrealers and visitors from around the world.

Designed by the architects of the Canadian National Railway Company to be the ideal hotel for international conventions, it comprised 1,216 rooms with a typically Canadian decor.

Over the past five decades, Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth hotel has hosted an impressive number of heads of state and leaders of the business world, as well as countless celebrities. It has served as home base for most of the major events organized in Montreal, contributing to the hotel’s reputation and to the international influence of Montreal and Canada. Reasons to renovate : From 2010 to 2016, the hotel standing across it’s competitors decreased, moving from 3rd place on 10 hotels to 6th place on 9 hotels. The competition had seen renovated and our hotel was due! Comments on status of hotel, room product on Tripadvisor and other sites were impacted negatively. Two top floors that had not been renovated for over 15 years had to be closed as one star was going to be lost which was not acceptable.

The objective of the hotel’s transformation in 2017 was precisely to make the establishment even more welcoming and to make it an important contributor to the social life-of the Montreal community. Rosélys Restaurant is a chic and inviting modern bistro. With its blend of Parisian elegance and English flair, the restaurant is pragmatic yet sophisticated. The design is balanced between masculine and feminine features, with a crisp, balanced geometry based on chevron and curve patterns.

The original façade and ceiling were opened up to provide a superb view of Mary Queen of the World Basilica and give grandeur and presence to the large central island and its overhanging glass threads. Nacarat Bar boasts unique views of the streets of Montreal and the Esplanade. The large picture windows and the patio face René-Lévesque Blvd, showcasing the new space’s vocation. The original low ceilings inspired the bar’s strongly horizontal, multi-zoned layout. AGORA

The Agora, in the main lobby of Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth, is a multipurpose space offering a new brand of programming for the hotel. It is available as a venue for one- off events aimed at Montrealers, from product launches to concerts to public tribunes. Permanent, built-in food stations complement the space. It is connected to the Salle Centre- ville, which features a 10-m (32-ft) retractable video screen. Both rooms combined can welcome up to 700 people for a reception. This unique room will be part of the City’s Montréal en histoires circuit, the largest outdoor projection circuit in the world. It will be the first indoor projection with 52 projectors installed on the ceilings.
