Exclusion to Empowerment: Tackling Youth Violence across all stages BCBN’s 6th Gala event is in support of disrupting the cycle of violence and crime for young people, helping young Londoners to fulfil their true potential. About BCBN

BCBN is a Muslim-led and business-networking forum bringing together professionals, key politicians across the political spectrum and heads of charities to facilitate community engagement. Since its inception in 2011, BCBN has raised over £1.3 million in funds for community causes and has attracted support from respected figures such as HRH The Prince of Wales; Former Deputy Prime Minister, Rt Hon Nick Clegg; Former Justice Secretary, Rt Hon Chris Grayling; Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London amongst others. BCBN seeks to identify socially challenges causes in the UK and raises funds from within the community and through social corporate responsibility to fund our supported programmes. BCBN does not believe in duplication of projects, it carefully selects charitable partners who already have an in-depth understanding and specialism in the field to deliver much needed community projects and support services.

BCBN’s Grant Initiative aims to provide small grant awards to empower charities, strengthen citizenship and local community projects for the betterment of our society. As a founding principle, BCBN running costs is totally funded by its Trustees, but it relies on the generosity of its Event Partners, its Event Sponsors and the Community to support its causes. Youth violence in London is on the rise. Tragically, 24 young people under the age of 25 had been fatally shot or stabbed in London this year, and the numbers are increasing.1 Last year, 7,775 young people were victims of serious youth violence in London.2 In 2017, over 39,000 incidences of knife crime were recorded by police forces nationally, an increase of 22% on the previous year.3 While every death is one too many, the skill and dedication of paramedics, doctors and surgeons save the lives of many more young people who become involved in serious youth violence. Exposure to violence in adolescence leads to increased likelihood of being further involved, either as victim or perpetrator.4

Khulisa, StreetDoctors and Redthread are working together, in partnership with BCBN, to interrupt the cycle of violence at every stage. Our projects support young people at three high risk transition points in their lives and provide holistic support to divert young people towards a positive future. Together, we support young people by equipping them with the knowledge and emotional resilience to make more positive decisions, helping them to lead safe, happy and fulfilling lives, free from violence and crime. 1 Guest Speaker

Jeremy Corbyn Leader of the Labour Party and Leader of the Opposition since 2015. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Islington North since 1983. Corbyn began his career as a representative for various trade unions. His political career began when he was elected to Haringey Council in 1974; he later became Secretary of Hornsey Constituency Labour Party, and continued in both roles until elected MP for Islington North. Corbyn was also the national chair of the Stop the War Coalition from 2011 to 2015. Corbyn announced his candidacy for the Labour leadership in the 2015 general election. It was the first time Labour had made a net gain of seats since 1997, and the party’s 9.6% increase in vote share was its largest in a single general election since 1945. What is an Event Sponsor?

The annual gala dinner provides a platform for companies to achieve significant brandexposure before, during and after the event. Our sponsorship packages incorporate a range of promotional opportunities to suit your business needs, whilst giving back to the community.

You can sponsor an evening containing high-profile speakers, an auction of exclusive items, entertainment, fine dining and an opportunity to engage with industry professionals.

Why become a Sponsor?

There is a worthwhile opportunity to ensure the issue of tackling youth violence gains greater exposure. You can help to build a socially responsible environment by supporting our causes and efforts. When you become involved with BCBN, you are helping to raise awareness of issues that generally may not get enough Government funding. You will help to raise the profile of the charity and help to generate vital funds needed to maintain the existing work being done to prevent youth violence but also to secure new funding to help rehabilitate those already affected by violence.

There are many reasons why businesses should choose to become a sponsor. As well as the usual marketing exposure and tax deduction benefits that you will receive, getting involved in corporate social responsibility is an easy way to give back to the community. Sponsorship of charitable causes can encourage and motivate employees and demonstrate that their employers are giving back to the greater needs of society. You are presenting your company as one that has a charitable and philanthropic motivation and this is a consideration of many people looking to do business with corporate firms. Finally, it drives awareness and brings visibility to causes.
