C3D Labs Updates C3D Toolkit for 2019, Adds Fifth SDK 12 August 2019 C3D Labs today announced the release of C3D Toolkit 2019, now the most complete solution for bringing together 3D modeling, parametrics, interoperability, visualization, and mesh conversion for developing advanced applications in CAD, CAE, CAM, EDA, and BIM.

Page 19 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary With the addition of the brand-new C3D B-Shaper polygonal mesh to B-rep converter, this outstanding software development toolkit now comprises of five robust components. In addition, the 2019 edition of the toolkit updates the C3D Modeler geometry kernel, C3D Solver parametric kernel, C3D Converter data exchange module, and C3D Vision visualization engine. Nikolay Golovanov, Head of Development at C3D Labs: “When we began work on C3D Toolkit for 2019, we focused primarily on extending the modeling and visualization capabilities. We also added high performance and API improvements to provide customers with tools that are powerful, reliable, and creative.” Common to all C3D Toolkit 2019 modules is updated support for 2019, 6.0, and GCC 7.3. THE NEW C3D B-SHAPER 2019 The fifth component of C3D Toolkit lets users work with polygonal mesh models by converting meshes to (B-rep) bodies. Once converted, users can employ standard CAD tools to edit the formerly-inaccessible models, such as applying chamfers and performing Boolean operations. Additional representations can be generated of the converted mesh models, such as projections and sections. C3D B-Shaper is available as part of the toolkit or as a free-standing module. WHAT’S NEW IN C3D MODELER FOR 2019 C3D Labs updated its geometry kernel in the areas of modeling, projections, and performance. Modeling. The key modeling feature added to the 2019 release is a new ability to section bodies with open shells. Now developers using C3D Modeler can cut off parts of bodies with sets of faces that are open. Among geometric kernels, sheet metal modeling is unique to C3D Labs. The 2019 release added the ability to copy sheet metal body elements. As well, the way that flat patterns are simplified is improved, and there is a new construction of deflected reinforcement ribs on sheet metal bends. Projections. A new projection tool projects axial lines, such as center lines, onto drawings. As well, the algorithms for projecting transparent bodies, cosmetic threads, and modified components of assemblies were improved. Users now can snap to attributes in section views. Performance. Together with boosting the C3D Modeler’s algorithms, significant enhancements were made in kernel stability and performance: Garbage collection was implemented in multi-threaded mode. (Garbage refers to data stored in memory that is no longer required by the application.) C3D files can now be saved as older versions. A file created by the newest version of C3D can be opened correctly in older versions of C3D, when users specify this during saving. The optimized build log eliminates data reuse. WHAT’S NEW IN C3D SOLVER FOR 2019 The parametric kernel was updated to deliver new constraint solving and improvements to the API (application program interface). Constraint Solving. The parameterization of wireframe models (used by pipelines in AEC/BIM

Page 20 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary applications, for instance) was enhanced with segments and arcs that are tied to fixed objects: Modified the API by adding the GCM_ALIGN_WITH_AXIAL_GEOM alignment option for patterns, which smoothly joins arcs and segments as a result of fewer calls. Expanded the test base with new 3D models from C3D Labs and those from customers Improved the stability of algorithms with a better formulation of the internal systems of equations With a rewrite made to the internal equations system, constraints (such as tangency, distance, and points on circles) now work with circles of zero radius. This is handy, for instance, when working with hidden fillets, in which parametric drawings may or may not have fillets. Circles with zero radius are also useful in increasing the accuracy of smooth junctions, thanks to the well-defined systems of equations. API. In addition to direct calls, the API of C3D Solver 2019 now offers callbacks, which are similar in concept to functional programming. Both initial data and functions are transferred to the calculation module, through which requests for additional data can be made that are calculated later. WHAT’S NEW IN C3D CONVERTER FOR 2019 The key advances in C3D Converter module are support for PMI (Product Manufacturing Information), and improvements to SAT and topology. PMI. C3D Converter 2019 expands on the transfer of PMI data in the JT file format. For parameters of leader lines, users can now specify the types of endings and the directions of the arrows, as well as to explicitly indicate the plane of the element’s placement. When specifying dimensions, their types, face values, tolerances, and units of measurement can now be specified. SAT. For 3D models exported in SAT format, C3D Converter 2019 adds the ability to specify the topology according to the specifications of destination software, the program into which the files will be imported. As well, the update now transfers closed faces without forced-splitting of them, something that makes it better adapted to the specifics of the SAT format. Topology. To detect and correct topology defects in the geometric model, new algorithms were added that take into account the specifications of exchange formats. WHAT’S NEW IN C3D VISION FOR 2019 The 2019 release of C3D Vision features closer integration with C3D Modeler, new tools, pen classes, and custom objects. Closer Integration. The module is integrated more closely with the C3D Modeler geometric kernel. This enables visual representations that based on mathematical embodiments. It also generates scene graphs (based on mathematical models) with reference geometry automatically, and tracks the progress of scene generation. New Tools. Perhaps the most important new feature is C3D Vision’s support for multilevel visualizations through the new MultiViews tool. Through the use of a single scene graph, one display model is used, and each view level has its own projection and its own scene display mode. The SelectManager tool now provides color settings for primitives, highlights, and selected objects. In addition, object filtering and settings for physical devices for selection are available Pen Class. The new Pen class defines line styles through which developers can set line parameters, such as width and color. The visualizer offers line types that include solid, axial, dashed, dash-dotted line

Page 21 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary with two points, axial fat, and dashed fat. Custom Objects. The streamlined software architecture of the visualization engine now allows developers to implement their own objects, as well as to program processes for creating and editing objects. C3D TOOLKIT 2019 AVAILABILITY The 2019 edition of C3D Toolkit is available now. The entire toolkit, as well as individual components, is available for testing in your programming environment at no charge. For details, see https://c3dlabs.com/en/evaluation/. Lantek and Danobatgroup develop expert software for the automotive sector 13 August 2019 The automotive industry, a highly automated sector in which technologies play a key role, is undergoing a new revolution. With the Industry 4.0 phenomenon and the arrival of smart cars, technological integration is no longer just an option for this sector and the companies supplying it, it is fundamental for survival. To maintain profitable, dynamic and flexible production, it is essential to be committed to innovation and to adopt new digital tools, as explained by Lantek and Danobatgroup. Starting from the base that digitalization is the perfect moment in time for a complete change in the production processes in the automotive sector, Lantek and Danobatgroup, through their sheet metal transformation division, have worked together on developing software for processing pre-blanking formats that is specially designed for cutting processes in the automotive sector. The objective pursued with this collaboration is twofold: to solve the problems inherent to the metal industry to achieve more efficient, competitive and flexible production, maintaining the highest quality levels; and so that Lantek and Danobatgroup can reinforce their positioning in the applications environment for specific sectors, such as the automotive industry, while helping customers in their transformation strategy towards becoming modern and intelligent companies. Based on this collaboration, Danobatgroup customers will have Lantek software on their coil-fed laser blanking lines and all their machines. Its experience in the metal industry will allow end customers to optimize processes and obtain the greatest return on machinery and software investments. What is blanking and how does it work? Blanking or metal stamping technology consists of a machining process where the sheet is cut using presses and specific cutting dies to produce certain metal parts. The Lantek and Danobatgroup’s blanking system application will be installed on all DANOBAT coil laser cutting lines. These lines have an unwinder that directs the sheet from the reel to a leveler, passing through feeder rollers to a cutting zone where one or more laser cutting heads make the cuts according to the programmed shape. Once cut, the format automatically goes to a stacker. These lines normally process a large number of shapes and materials (steel/aluminum) and increasingly in series or runs that need to be adapted to several configurations for the same car model. This means that there is a very large number of dies to be managed. The plants must therefore have a lot of space for storing these dies. This laser blanking system application therefore helps to cut the pieces automatically and continuously,

Page 26 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary minimizing the costs generated from the investment in the press and dies and from adapting the building (pits, storage areas, special foundations, etc.). Costs are also significantly improved due to the time it takes to change the format of the pieces. MagiCAD 2020.1 patch available for MagiCAD Ventilation, Electrical and Room for AutoCAD 21 August 2019 Announced on the MagiCAD blog: We have released MagiCAD 2020.1 patch which resolves the following issues in MagiCAD Ventilation, Electrical and Room for AutoCAD. Room – Performing Save, Calculate and Update Texts functionality resets air exchange rates

Page 27 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary In MagiCAD 2020 there is an issue with room air exchange rate values. Using the Save, Calculate and Update Texts functionality to update the project resets all the air exchange rate values to 0,1 1/h for all rooms in the project, regardless of whether users have defined a different air exchange value for the rooms or not. Since the functionality will save the updated project, the only option to correct the values is to define them again for each room in the project. This issue can be fixed by upgrading to MagiCAD 2020.1 patch. Room – Using q50 or n50 value disables the transfer air temperature setting In MagiCAD 2020 using a project specific q50 or n50 value for defining the building infiltration rate incorrectly disables the transfer air temperature setting in each room and sets the temperature to the outside temperature. This causes issues when calculating heat losses for rooms where the supply and extract air flows are not in balance and transfer air should be taken from an adjacent room. Installing MagiCAD 2020.1 patch will fix the issue by enabling the setting. Ventilation – Duct components are not drawn to correct elevation in section views with multiple storeys In order to create a section view with multiple storeys, users often create a new drawing and import the files of different storeys into it. However, when creating a section view of multiple storeys, the duct component symbols, e.g. flow damper, fire damper and silencer symbols, are not drawn to the correct height level. Upgrading MagiCAD versions 2019 UR-2 or 2020 to MagiCAD 2020.1 patch will fix the issue. This applies only to the duct component symbols in the ventilation module. All the other components and devices are drawn correctly in section views. Also, symbols in section views of the original single storey model drawings are drawn correctly. Ventilation – Issues with air device collar length Air device collar length cannot be defined during product installation, but only afterwards with the Change Properties functionality or by using Part Properties. MagiCAD 2020.1 patch resolves the issue by enabling the collar length field properly in the air device product selection dialog for applicable devices. Electrical – Selection disabled when running Update Circuits or Update Devices When selecting circuits or devices to be updated the checkboxes marking the selection are not visible in MagiCAD 2020. Installing MagiCAD 2020.1 patch will fix the issue. You can download the installation package either using the Check for Updates functionality integrated in MagiCAD, or alternatively, from the MagiCAD Download Portal. Click here to return to Contents

NUM launches active vibration control system for CNC machine tools 22 August 2019 NUM has launched an innovative accelerometer-based active vibration control system for CNC machine tools. Primarily designed to improve machining by virtually eliminating tool head vibration, the system further helps increase productivity by maximizing material removal rate (MRR) and can also provide valuable real-time feedback for predictive maintenance purposes. The system is available as a retrofittable option for any machine tool that uses NUM’s MDLUX high performance digital servo drives, which form part of the company’s Flexium+ CNC platform. NUM’s active vibration control system is a very cost-effective solution that provides unprecedented dynamic damping capabilities. Most competitive accelerometers on the market are only capable of low frequency sampling rates and require additional signal conditioning electronics before they can be connected – usually via Fieldbus – to the CNC or PLC system. Typically, acceleration data can only be retrieved once every 20 milliseconds, which is inadequate for vibration damping purposes on machine tools. The accelerometer in NUM’s new system is sampled every 100 microseconds, which means that it can be used for closed loop control at bandwidths approaching several hundreds of Hertz.

The small flange-mounting accelerometer transducer can easily be attached to the machine’s tool head and has a sensitivity of 0.02 g (1.96 m/sec/sec), with a measurement range of plus/minus 2 g (plus/minus 19.6 m/sec/sec). The transducer connects directly to the digital servo drive, obviating the need for any additional signal conditioning circuitry. The active vibration control system utilizes the drive embedded macros (DEM-X) option that is available on NUM’s MDLUX high performance digital servo drives. This option enables real-time macros to be embedded within the drive in order to manipulate its regulation algorithms. The output signal from the accelerometer transducer can thus be used to directly influence the behavior of the speed servo control loop. All MDLUX servo drive modules use advanced DSP control techniques to maximize the CNC kernel-to-drive servo bus speed, and feature high loop bandwidths and special acceleration algorithms for uncompromised speed and positioning accuracy. One of the most interesting applications of NUM’s new active vibration control system concerns Tool Centre Point (TCP) vibration due to the various vibration modes of a machine tool's mechanical structure. Until now, even if the machine is equipped with a high resolution encoder (integrated in the servo motor) it has been impossible to damp the TCP vibration, simply because it is not measured. Although complex system modeling and state-space control could possibly provide some effective results, the complexity is very high and the compensation robustness is quite weak. For example, in the case of a small parameter change, such as inertia, the effect of the compensation would be lost entirely. However, by using NUM’s new active vibration control system to measure and dynamically alter the TCP acceleration in each of the main X, Y and Z axis directions, it is now possible to damp the vibration

Page 30 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary very accurately. Using this approach, tool head vibration can effectively be eliminated, significantly reducing tool wear and maximizing the MRR of the machining process. All acceleration data is processed within the drive in the digital domain, which means that it can be cyclically transmitted to the Flexium+ NCK and stored in the NCK buffer. The data can then be uploaded to the Windows for further evaluation, or for use with NUM’s process monitoring software. It is especially useful for preventive maintenance applications, where it can provide early indication of potential machine problems before they become expensive repair tasks. Typically these include detecting spindle vibration caused by bearing problems, detecting the onset of performance deterioration such as increased friction or backlash, and detecting excessive tool wear or breakage. Oracle Data Cloud Receives MRC Property-Level Ad Verification Accreditation for Contextual Intelligence Services 22 August 2019 Oracle Data Cloud today announced that the Media Rating Council (MRC) has accredited Oracle’s Contextual Intelligence for Property-Level Ad Verification under the MRC and Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Guidelines for the Conduct of Ad Verification. Developed via technology from its Grapeshot acquisition, Contextual Intelligence’s accredited database offers property-level categorization and can be used by marketers and agencies to avoid unsafe and brand inappropriate content, based not simply on keywords but also on the context in which they appear. To earn its MRC accreditation, Oracle Data Cloud completed a comprehensive audit and review of its technologies, systems and processes to ensure they met the Ad Verification Guideline’s requirements, as well as MRC’s rigorous standards. “Contextual Intelligence gives marketers peace of mind by using advanced technology to help prevent their ads from appearing on properties with dangerous or inappropriate content,” said Kurt Kratchman, Group Vice President for Product Development, Oracle Data Cloud. “This MRC accreditation demonstrates the significant steps taken by the Oracle Data Cloud team to provide marketers and advertisers with the insight they need around their ad campaigns to help ensure their brands are protected and their resources are well invested.” In 2012, the IAB and MRC produced their Ad Verification Guidelines, which identified a common set of methods and practices for conducting digital ad verification services for: Site Context, Geo-Targeting, Ad Placement, Competitive Separation and Fraud Detection. With the rise in the sophistication of market needs for standards around content detection and brand safety, particularly around new formats like video, mobile and user-generated content, the MRC published a Supplemental Guideline in September 2018 to create specific requirements for accreditation for more discrete content-level brand safety procedures that may be employed within the existing Site Context ad verification service line. Oracle Data Cloud’s accreditation is based on the earlier Property-level Ad Verification requirements, and not the 2018 content-level brand safety updates. “We congratulate Oracle Data Cloud for achieving the distinction of MRC accreditation of its Contextual Intelligence service, formerly Grapeshot, for its property level targeting and avoidance

Page 31 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary capabilities,” said George W. Ivie, Executive Director and CEO of the MRC. “Marketers now have available another accredited tool through which they can gain added assurances their ad investments appear on properties that are aligned with their intentions.” Contextual Intelligence improves marketing outcomes by helping ensure ads only appear on properties with brand safe and contextually appropriate content. Using adaptive machine learning algorithms, the technology assesses relative keyword importance on pages, so advertisers can avoid negative content and keywords, as well as placing their ads in more brand relevant contexts, all without using cookies or audience profiles. The MRC accreditation for Property-Level Ad verification provides advertisers and marketers requiring this verification with a tool to support and enhance their brand safety initiatives. Renga BIM System Release Announcement 20 August 2019 Renga Software product team is very excited to announce the release of Renga BIM system — the latest version of Renga — to all our current and future users. Multiple new features in Renga equip you to create the more accurate, detailed 3D design. New Axonometric View tool and efficient features contribute to your ability to more productively work in 3D environment, adding new competitive strengths to Renga Software products. Summer has always been a busy season for building experts. Architects, designers and engineers need to finish their projects so that constructors can perform onsite installation and building work in summer and interior work in winter. New Renga release is a major assistance for designers during this time. We are pretty sure you will be immensely impressed with the ability to obtain 44 axonometric projections in Renga and insert them into drawing. Designers can now use all axonometric projections described in All-Union State Standard GOST 2.317-2011 "Unified system of design documentation. Axonometric projections". No other architectural and civil engineering software provides such a rich feature set for designing. Design engineers are the ones who anticipated axonometry implementation the most. Axonometric plans of MEP systems are a crucial part of design documentation they need to create. With new Renga version engineers can easily draw axonometric plans as required by the All-Union State Standard GOST. It makes Renga MEP a preferable choice for specialists of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines An axonometric projection is yet another option for construction pros to display their design solutions in graphic documentation. Unlike standard floor plans, elevations, sections, these views allow to more accurately display, for example, complex connection node of elements or part of the building. And also demonstrate assembly views of structural elements Renga development team has considerably extended the functionality for 3D modeling. You can now design objects at any given point of 3D space, copy objects on any plane and not only within the work plane. For example, users can copy the wall with window openings up the elevation in one click! With continual development happening behind the scenes, Renga is growing and evolving in multiple areas. New functionality helps multidisciplinary teams deliver projects more productively. We hope our users would appreciate it.

Page 32 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary The building information model is still rarely used at the construction stage. Design documentation between designers and clients is mostly exchanged in PDF. Renga update provides users with the ability to insert PDF drawings in 3D view and use them as the foundation for building information model, saving time and improving accuracy On top of this, Renga developers implemented batch-exporting for drawings into PDF/DWG/DXF formats. This is valuable for those cases, when project team members need to generate document package for expert evaluation – batch-exporting feature provides them with design documentation in a matter of minutes Architects would love the updated Door tool. Creating new door styles in Renga Architecture, users now can refine construction of doors, manage door frame parameters, add sills and door trims. Renga now shows a door opening area for an architect to make sure, that panels of nearby doors do not block each other when opening and also provide enough space for emergency exit route. User can also set the level of detail for doors. Now it's up to user to decide whether to display all of the construction with sills, door trims and door frame in details or display only the simplified panel. But there is more to it. For drawing production Renga delivers new level of detail Symbolic "A" that allows to display doors opened at 30° degrees and Symbolic "B" that allows to display doors at 90° degrees as required by the All-Union State Standard GOST, and level of detail Simplified as required by the ISO Previous Renga version did not snap floors and floor openings to each other. It caused some difficulties when user tried to modify building 3D model. When repositioning a floor slab, user had to modify position of openings separately. In new Renga version all openings and its bars reinforcement belong to floors. If user modifies the model and repositions the floor, opening automatically transfers alongside with the floor. Great news for designers working in Renga Structure. New functionality significantly speeds up drafting of cast reinforced concrete slabs. Reinforcement of cast concrete slabs now displays in floor drawings along with reinforcement of openings. Rich feature set for designing building systems has been implemented in Renga MEP. New plumbing fixture styles like Bidet and Urinal, large selection of shutoff and control valves would benefit engineers whose job is to design water supply and sewerage systems, and provide a way to get element schedules as per All-Union State Standard GOST New equipment Radiator, Tank, Boiler, Heat exchanger and heat meters allow to draft heating system and district heating substation. More details are provided in the article on new Renga MEP release. Users who've already downloaded and installed Renga BIM system can appreciate new functionality by installing system update on our website. For those who still hesitate we offer to download our full trial version right now. If you want more information on new tools, watch our ‘‘Axonometry in Renga'' webinar.
