The Annual Knockout Football Competitions for State High Schools

1. Notifications and Results ______Results must be telephoned and/or emailed, by the winning school, to either the State KO Convener or to the respective Regional Convener, or the Sports High Co‐ordinator as indicated on the draw, immediately following a scheduled match. A Result Sheet (hard/soft copy) confirmation is to be forwarded within three school days. Failure to notify results may lead to the disqualification of the winning school. Your co‐operation is also sought in despatching the Media/Internet Report to the Media Officer within TWO school days. Team photographs as jpg. attachments can also be forwarded. These will be published on the NSW Schools Football website.

2. The 2019 PUMA Comprehensive High Schools Football Competition ______The draw for the Final Series will be conducted as a State‐wide Region‐based Comprehensive High Schools Competition (and a separate Sports High School Competition) with Boys and Girls divisions. Refer to the draw on page 5. Schools should also refer to the designated Regional draws for Rounds 1 to 5 which take place to determine the PUMA Finals Series.

3. The 2019 PUMA Sports High School Football Competition ______This competition will be played as a round robin as indicated below, with a final for the 1st and 2nd positions: Please note the first mentioned team is the home team in all rounds. All other knockout home and away rules apply. Sports High School “play by” dates may vary from the PUMA Comprehensive High School schedule, and may be played as gala days with each Sports High School hosting a round of competition.

1st and 2nd in the Boys and Girls groups will advance to play the PUMA Sports High School Finals at Seymour Shaw Stadium, Miranda on Wednesday 28th August 2019.

The winners of the PUMA Sports High School division will represent NSW Combined High Schools in the Football NSW All Schools Champions Final against the non‐government schools’ winners: CCC ‐ Combined Catholic Colleges & CIS ‐ Combined Independent Schools, in September in a “round robin” series at Valentine Park.

Where teams finish equal on points the following criteria will determine the finalists’ positions: . head to head result . where only 2 teams, on equal points and vying for the second position in the final, a knockout game will be played in Term 3 Week 3. The home team will be the away team from the round game, unless an agreement is made for other arrangements. . goal difference between the teams competing for the 2 positions in the final. . toss of a coin

Sports High Schools’ results must also be sent by your nominated school official, via email ([email protected]), following each round to the Media Officer, and results and tables will be posted on the website: www.nswschoolsfootball.org.au.

4. 2019 BOYS and GIRLS Comprehensive High Schools DRAW: ______

Play by dates must be strictly adhered to. Refer CHS Handbook Section 5.2 and notification of the regional winners to the CHS KO convener made no later than 17 June 2019.

NOTE: In some Regions, a number of rounds may be played on the one day, e.g. Western, North Coast, Riverina, and North West.

6. Schools should also note that Home and Away designations recommence in the first round of the Round of 16 finals series (Round 6 as above).

7. The Central Venues selected for the semi‐finals and finals cannot be negotiated

NOTICE TO PRINCIPALS OF SCHOOLS IN FOOTBALL KNOCKOUT COMPETITIONS

IT IS NSWCHSSA AND FOOTBALL NSW POLICY THAT ANY DISCIPLINARY ACTION, ARISING FROM COMBINED HIGH SCHOOLS MATCHES, AND THE SUBSEQUENT PENALTIES IMPOSED BY THE COMBINED HIGH SCHOOLS, WILL BE APPLICABLE AND ENFORCED IN ALL COMPETITIONS CONDUCTED BY FOOTBALL NSW. YOUR CO‐ OPERATION IN FORWARDING THIS INFORMATION TO ALL STAFF AND STUDENTS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Your co‐operation and assistance is also sought in ensuring that the Knockout Football matches at you school proceed in a proper manner with adequate supervision of spectators is also appreciated. May we also draw your attention to the Code of Behaviour for School Sport that has been distributed to all schools in NSW. Schools should be also aware that National Flags other than the Australian Flag, as well as the ignition of flares, are banned in Football Competitions conducted in Australia under Football NSW, FFA and FIFA Regulations. All school Football matches in NSW are conducted under these regulations.

Appropriate supervision of students attending and representing schools should be paramount at all KO fixtures.

GOALKEEPERS AND PENALTY SHOOTOUTS Schools should also be conversant with the rule regarding substitution of goalkeepers in the case of penalty shootouts.
