In this 2015 Annual Report marking Invest Detroit’s 20-year anniversary, we are celebrating the positive changes to the landscape and the partnerships that continue to make them possible. In 1995, with a vision of creating a catalyst for investment, the founders of Invest Detroit launched one loan fund capitalized with $48M to attract and expand businesses and support real estate development in the City of Detroit. Its mission was to create jobs, increase the tax base and provide a better quality of life for Detroit residents. As the portfolio grew and the economy shifted, new partnership opportunities were identified and new development strategies were envisioned. The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the staff briefing, followed immediately by the regular agenda items. The purpose of the briefing is to update the Board members on matters to be taken up at the meeting. The Cadillac Place is in Detroit's New Center Area near the John Lodge Freeway (M-10), between Second Avenue and Cass Avenue. The Fisher Building and the Albert Kahn Building are nearby landmarks. The purpose of the Board meeting is to conduct Board business regarding the implementation, administration and enforcement of the provisions of the Michigan Gaming Control & Revenue Act, as amended, Public Act 69 of 1997, MCL 432.201, et seq ("the Act"), related to the licensing, regulation and conduct of casino gaming in the City of Detroit. The meeting is open to the public and questions, comments and suggestions from the public, regarding Board business and the licensing, regulation and conduct of casino gaming in Detroit under the Act, are welcomed and encouraged during the public comment portion of the meeting. The meeting location is barrier free and open to all persons. Persons with questions regarding building access and/or who may need additional assistance to address the Board at the meeting are asked to contact Karen Finch during normal business hours at 313-456-4100 to inform the Board of their request at least 48 hours in advance. -

This report, submitted in accordance with Section 15(1) of the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, as amended, Public Act 69 of 1997 (“the Act”), provides an overview of the major events and activities that have taken place during the past year. At the close of the year, the founding executive director, Nelson Westrin, resigned his position. Mr. Westrin served the Board since its inception in 1997, and was instrumental in creating an agency that is nationally recognized for its integrity and innovation. The Board’s new executive director, Dan Gustafson, brings a wealth of experience and ability to the position. His previous service as a state legislator and Chairman of the Liquor Control Commission has well prepared him to lead the Michigan Gaming Control Board. The Board successfully moved its Detroit presence from the Albert Kahn Building to the newly renovated Cadillac Place. -
