A Short Description of Androsace Genre Plants Present in Alexandru Beldie Herbarium from I.N.C.D.S
Current Trends in Natural Sciences Vol. 6, Issue 12, pp. 16-24, 2017 Current Trends in Natural Sciences (on-line) Current Trends in Natural Sciences (CD-Rom) ISSN: 2284-953X ISSN: 2284-9521 ISSN-L: 2284-9521 ISSN-L: 2284-9521 A SHORT DESCRIPTION OF ANDROSACE GENRE PLANTS PRESENT IN ALEXANDRU BELDIE HERBARIUM FROM I.N.C.D.S. BUCHAREST Maria Dincă 1, Lucian Dincă 1,*, Diana Vasile 1 1 National Institute for Research and Development in Forestry „ Marin Drăcea ” Braşov, Romania Abstract ”Marin Drăcea” National Institute for Research and Development in Forestry from Bucharest has in its possession a Herbarium with a rich collection of plants (approximately 60.000 plates) and which is registered in Index Herbarium. The Alexandru Beldie Herbarium consists of private donated collections as well as collections obtained through exchanges of plates. For the present article, 66 plates from the Herbarium were studied, namely the ones belonging to the Androsace genre. The plates were then systemized on species (19 to be specific), harvest year, place of origin and after the specialist that has gathered them. The Androsace species were harvested from Romania, as well as other countries and are in a very good conservation state, even though some species were harvested starting with the year 1840. Most species were gathered in the interval 1940-1949. The Al Beldie Herbarium offers significant historical data which is a valuable research resource, together with rich data concerning the species, their origin place and developing conditions. Keywords : Androsace, botanists, herbarium, species. 1. INTRODUCTION Plants with flowers are considered a priority in research endeavors due to the fact that they are relatively well known (Joppa et al., 2010). -

Al- philization, we used the indicative value of the species found in though these studies have shown responses from various local a plot. The ecological indicator concept18 relies on the realized case studies, a coherent large-scale account on temperature- position of a species along an environmental gradient, in our case driven changes of biotic communities has been lacking3,4. Here altitude, which resembles a thermal gradient19 (Fig. 1a). For some we use 867 vegetation samples above the treeline from 60 species their optimum performance is found in the treeline ecotone, summit sites in all major European mountain systems to show whereas for others it is in the alpine zone, and in some cases close that ongoing climate change gradually transforms mountain to the limits of plant life (nival zone; ref. 20; Fig. 1b). According plant communities. We provide evidence that the more cold- to standard floras, an altitudinal rank was assigned to all recorded adapted species decline and the more warm-adapted species species (for details on ranking and effects of misclassifications increase, a process described here as thermophilization.
