Celebrating Ten Years of Excellence in Institution Building Center for Research in Economics and Finance at Jindal School of Banking & Finance cordially invites you to a Public Lecture on Engineering in Economics: An Introduction to Mechanism Design by Dr. Arunava Sen Professor, Indian Statistical Institute Delhi Dr. Arunava Sen is Professor of Economics at the Indian Statistical Institute Delhi. In his chosen elds of Game Theory, Social Choice and Mechanism Design, Prof. Sen has consistently produced research of such eminence that he is today one of the best known and respected economists in India. Prof. Sen obtained his BA in Economics from St. Stephen's College Delhi; thereafter he obtained his master's degree from Delhi School of Economics before going to Oxford University for his M.Phil then to Princeton for his Ph.D Prof. Sen has been teaching at the Indian Statistical Institute for more than thirty years. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society and an Economic Theory Fellow. He is also the recipient of the Infosys Prize in Social Science in 2012, the Mahalanobis Memorial Medal of the Indian Econometric Society in 2000 and of the inaugural Siwei-Cheng Prize of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in 2018 Abstract This talk, which is meant for a general audience will provide a brief introduction to the theory of mechanism design. It will describe applications to voting, matching and auctions. If time permits, the talk will outline recent developments in the theory of implementation in undominated strategies via bounded mechanisms.
