Frank Dobie High School senior Zaheer Kamal jumped in with both feet when he was placed to work in the Aircraft Operations Division as part of the Career Explora- tion Program (CEP) at NASA Johnson Space Center. During Kamal’s fi rst week at Ellington Field, NASA Pi- lot/Astronaut Greg C. “Ray J” Johnson presented Kamal with a project of calculating historical T-38 data dating all the way back to the seven original astronauts. The over- whelming task included cal- culating more than 250,000 hours of fl ight time, assimi- lating numerous aircraft and pilot statistics, and graphing the results. Kamal meticulously and effi ciently tackled the project every day until it was fi nished, in just less than two months. To the surprise and delight of Johnson and the organiza- tion, Kamal completed the task in record time and with impeccable accuracy.
