SAWUBONA, ! July 21 (depart US) – July 30, 2018 (return to US) Travel to with 15 other incoming first year Honors Carolina students. We’ll immerse ourselves in the ongoing work of building a multiracial democracy from the ruins of and delight in South Africa’s natural wonders.

• A visit with Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Chris Ahrends, founding director of the Desmond Tutu Peace Centre • A tour of the and Robben Island Museums • Excursions to Inverdoorn Game Reserve, , Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens and a hike to the top of • An overnight stay at Kopanong Bed & Breakfast in , Cape Town's largest township

Timing & Travel Participants will make their own arrangements for air travel, departing on Saturday, July 21, for arrival to the Cape Town International Airport on Sunday, July 22. All participants will depart Cape Town on Sunday, July 29, for arrival back in the US on Monday, July 30.

We will share Dean Leloudis’s travel itinerary upon confirmation of your participation in case you wish to travel with him.

Cost & Registration Thanks to generous support from Honors Carolina alumni, we can offer this Cape Town adventure for a deeply discounted price of $1,850, which covers the cost of lodging, airport transfers, museum tickets, excursions, health insurance, and three meals per day. Airfare is not included in the program fee.

Students interested in participating should sign up here. In order for us to confirm your participation, we'll need to verify that you have: • formally accepted your Honors Carolina invitation • formally accepted your UNC admission offer • paid your UNC enrollment deposit (or have a waiver on file)

Once confirmed, you will receive a follow-up email regarding payment procedures, passport requirements, and flight arrangements. Program participants will be billed via their UNC student account for the total $1,850 program fee. A $300 non-refundable deposit is due within two weeks of billing. The full balance is due by May 15.

Once 16 students have been confirmed, additional applicants will be wait listed.
