SLIP SLIDIN’ AWAY PAUL SIMON Slip sliding away, slip sliding away You know the nearer your destination, the more you slip sliding away ONE OF THESE DAYS Neil Young One of these days I'm gonna sit down and write a long letter To all the good friends I've known One of these days One of these days One of these days And it won't be long It won't be long Fields of Gold STING SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW HAROLD ARLEN Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high There's a land that I've heard of once in a lullaby. Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue and the dreams that you dare to dream, really do come true. Someday I'll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far behind me. Where troubles melt like lemon drops, high above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me. Somewhere over the rainbow, blue birds fly Birds fly over the rainbow Why then, oh why can't I? If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow Why, oh why can't I? Won’t You Be My Neighbor FRED M. ROGERS It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood A beautiful day for a neighbor Would you be mine? Could you be mine? It's a neighborly day in this beauty-wood A neighborly day for a beauty Would you be mine? Could you be mine? I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you So let's make the most of this beautiful day Since we're together, we might as well say Would you be mine? Could you be mine? Won't you be my neighbor? Won't you please Won't you please Please won't you be my neighbor? [Instrumental solo] (Take a moment to think of the people in your neighborhood that have helped you…) Won't you please Won't you please Please won't you be my neighbor? Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality” (Queen, “Bohemian Rhapsody”). Abstract The following article explores different conceptions of fantasy and science fiction that characterized many popular music performances in the 1970’s predominantly in the genres of glam rock and funk. By focusing on a few artists that were at the peak of their music careers at this time, such as David Bowie, P-Funk, Queen, Labelle and others, it attempts to un-earth some historical conditions for women, queers, and people of color and reveal how these artists have attempted to escape and transform certain realities by transgressing the boundaries of real/fiction, masculinity/ femininity, race, sexuality, and the “alien”. SPACE ODDITY Written by David Bowie & Illustrated by Andrew Kolb NOTICE OF LEGALNESS This is where it would say that this is published by Penguin or someone super cool. As it were, this is still but a concept book. I did it to do it and now it’s done. Normally this legal page would list a bunch of addresses in New York, London, Vancouver, and maybe even Dublin. Oh, and I’ll throw Brisbane in there for good measure. I appreciate all the legal bits as it’s that part that helps make this all happen. Except that you have this book and this page is still relegated to my ramblings. That’s part of what I love about the internet, it’s a chance to SHARE with others! I suppose some of the content that is shared out there wouldn’t pass my content filter, but for the most part I’ve discovered a lot of great work and met a lot of wonderful people because of this new fangled technology. Well done, internet. Well done. SPACE It’s because of this internet that the publisher usually lists their website. However it’s my book so here’s my site: www.kolbisneat.com And then those random numbers appear that look like a game of bingo to me 10 18 11 07 08 1986 B4 ODDITY More legal stuff. All rights respected (as best I can). Thanks to Mr. David Bowie for writing this song so I could draw it. Written by David Bowie & Illustrated by Andrew Kolb I find in some books there’s all this “This is ours” and then there’s a paragraph below it that says www.kolbisneat.com “Oh, but here are all the exceptions”.

Ambient Orchestra David Bowie’s Blackstar Blackstar Concerto David Bowie (1947-2016) Conceived and adapted for orchestra by Evan Ziporyn Blackstar ‘Tis a Pity She Was a Whore Lazarus Sue (Or in a Season of Crime) Girl Loves Me Dollar Days I Can’t Give Everything Away Maya Beiser, solo cello Evan Ziporyn, conductor Dave Cook, sound design The Ambient Orchestra, featuring musicians from Boston Conservatory at Berklee NO INTERMISSION Program Notes BLACKSTAR (2016) David Bowie released Blackstar on January 8, 2016; he passed away two days later: in characteristic fashion, he had written and staged his own eulogy! Blackstar was his parting gift to the world—dark but luminous, richly textured and deeply moving. It sounded this way even in the two days before he died; afterwards, as the world realized what he’d been trying to tell us, the album’s poignancy became overwhelming. Blackstar is a concept album, but the concept itself is unnamed, perhaps because it is the unnameable itself, death, how to face it, and how to celebrate life—his and ours—even in its shadow. Unlike Bowie’s 2015 musical Lazarus (which shares similar concerns and one song), Blackstar has no clear storyline; unlike many of his earlier albums, there is no single alter ego—no Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, Major Tom, Thin White Duke.

3 Culminating Sounds and (En)visions Ashes to Ashes and the case for Pierrot View metadata, citation and similar papers at core.ac.uk brought to you by CORE Aileen Dillane, Eoin Devereux and provided by University of Limerick Institutional Repository Martin J. Power I’m Pierrot. I’m Everyman. What I’m doing is theatre, and only theatre […] What you see on stage isn’t sinister. It’s pure clown. I’m using myself as a canvas and trying to paint the truth of our time on it. The white face, the baggy pants —they’re Pierrot, the eternal clown putting over the great sad- ness of 1976. (Bowie cited in Rook, 1976) INTRODUCTION In October 2013 David Bowie released a self-directed homemade video for the James Murphy remix of his latest single ‘Love is Lost’ using two manne- quins from the David Bowie Archive. Shot over one week and commencing with the ‘real’ David Bowie repeatedly washing his hands, the video’s central character is that of a Pierrot clown dressed in black. In the video’s relatively simple storyline Pierrot is watched over by the ‘real’ David Bowie and by another mannequin who closely resembles the Thin White Duke. Devoid of any make-up, David Bowie’s face is superimposed on Pierrot’s. Many readings could undoubtedly be made of this video. The merging of Bowie and Pierrot; the resurrection of the sinister looking Thin White Duke; the frightened, vulnerable clown dressed in funereal black; Pierrot’s feet tap-dancing in the expectation of a visit from Columbine; the skeletal shadows and the obsessive washing of hands all suggest potentially fruitful starting points for analysis and discussion.

  • Major Tom Landet in Köln Zum Start Von Alexander Gerst Zur ISS Landet Peter Schilling Mit Band Auf Dem Alter Markt
